      @sahlavit It took me forever to quit! One thing that really helped me was not talking about it, believe it or not. All the advice tells you to get a buddy, and tell people about it, call your sponsor when you're having cravings, etc., and quite frankly all that talking about it made me miss it more. When I told no one (well, my family knew, of course, because they saw me not smoking all day long), it was much easier to deal with. I was just nonchalantly not smoking: I didn't talk about it, complain about it, post about it (well...not much), or really even think about it all that often. I can't even tell you when I quit - I didn't note the date. For some reason, that worked for me. So feel free to ignore the tips that don't work for you; this kind of thing is highly personal.

      Good luck!

        @sabryn I agree and am not talking about it , also for a reason that I can slip anytime ( which I did already once during these 2 weeks since I started πŸ™„, but I kind of knew I would πŸ™‚ ) . I still have love-hate relationship with cigarettes, hope to drop the "love" part eventually any time soon!

          @sahlavit I slipped myself....many, many, many times. During my last quit attempt, I made it nearly a month. And for some weird reason, the cigarette tasted like dish soap. It was bad enough to keep me off of them for good after that, though I have to admit I still like the smell of cigarettes when someone is smoking. (The dirty ashtray afterwards, not so much.) I don't miss smoking, though I do miss the nicotine gum...loved that stuff.

      @sahlavit Have you seen this website? If you scroll down, you can read stories of people who smoked. I found it impactful and maybe it can help on your journey. Wishing you the best of luck. Be patient with yourself. Even if you have to try several times, remember that this is one of the best gifts you can give yourself and those who love you.

    Reading The Absolute True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie, loving it! ( Ellen Forney, an illustrator for this book, is a great bonus!) 😃

    After discovering Riad Sattouf , a French cartoonist, and falling in love with his "The Arab of the Future" series, I also discovered that nothing else of his books was translated to English rowning;.
    So I decided to go on adventure and try to read one of his comics in French!
    I spent 1,5 hours reading first 6 squares! 🤣

    Pictures help by the way!

    Don't know how long I can keep on reading it, but for now it is much fun. I try to read it out loud to the translation app on my phone and then see if it got it right. It is not trivial with French &#xsmile;

    I've been climbing the stairs in my building since January. It hasn't been an easy task as I live on the 17th floor. Of course sometimes I cheat, but not more than 1 or 2 days in a row.

    Climbing the stairs got me thinking about how in some countries they skip floors because of superstitions, in the West it is usually the 13th floor , in the East - the 4th. (there is no 13th floor in my building)
    I read about Chinese tetraphobia on Wikipedia:
    Quote:
    The Chinese word for four sounds quite similar to the word for death. ... 14, 24, 42, etc. are also to be avoided due to the presence of the digit 4 in these numbers...In Cantonese-speaking regions in China, 14 and 24 are considered more unlucky than the individual 4, since 14 sounds like "will certainly die", and 24 like "easy to die".

You can type any date in plain English like in 3 weeks or next month.
You can also type in recurring due date like every day, every week and every month.
