Mark is done! Onto Luke. Luke has got to be my favorite Gospel. I LOVE that he researched and interviewed before he wrote the book and I LOVE this Gospel's telling of the birth of Jesus and story of Mary. Mary is pretty incredible, Mary's song always brings me to tears. I hope I can be like her when my world gets rocked. I hope I can say "Let it be to me as you have said." and "For the Mighty God has done great things, Holy is His name."

Almost done with Mark! I'm 4 chapters away. I thought I'd be done since I had a 3 hour drive but that turned into a total music session. Mark is lightning fast compared to John, and it's interesting because there are a few stories in Mark that aren't in John (like when Jesus raises the young girl from the dead). It's been good though!

Read through the first 7 chapters of Mark this morning, thinking I'll read through the last 9 when I get up.

    Highlights=

*Whenever I get to see God as a healer it gets me all stoked. I love miracles. I love healing. I want to see it more with my own eyes, every time I read about healing in the Bible I think that. Just these words send shivers down my spine and speed up my heartbeat:

"Then a leper came to Jesus, begging on his knees: 'If You are willing, You can make me clean.' Moved with compassion, Jesus reached out His hand and touched the man. 'I am willing,' He said, 'Be clean.'

    YESSSS!!

    • The Woman with Bleeding Disease (I bet she had PCOS or a fistula). That story is so intensely awesome. Jesus is so badass. So fiercely loving and willing to heal. He takes time to find her in the crowd that is pressing up against Him, He should be mortified that a woman is touching him and even more so that she is an UNCLEAN woman touching him (talking to the culture of the day) but instead He calls her daughter and encourages her to go in peace because her faith has made her well. He talks to her, he values her faith and acknowledges her need for peace. He just is all kinds of radical. Love it!

*Demon possessed man story. Likely the first missionary ever, I love how much he wants to go follow Jesus after getting freed from the demons and then how Jesus tells him to stay and tell the people of what He did. I still freak out a little envisioning 2000 pigs running over a cliff into a river and drowning, that there are spiritual forces out there strong enough to do that. I felt like I could picture this story better than I ever have before.

I read the whole book of John last night, I am thinking I'll read the whole book of Mark next. I don't think I can do cover-to-cover, but I know I want to read the whole thing. And it's honestly not just because I'm a Christian and I know I should. (Note: I am a Christian, and I know I should) I just have a hunger right now to know what's in it. I just feel like I NEED it. I've spent such a long time immersed in the Christian culture I feel like I've lost sight of the Bible and the faith. I've gotten distracted by Christian lifestyle authors and worships CD's and "Bible studies" where we read a book written by a person about relevant life issues that have some bible verses sprinkled in it. I want the BIBLE. I want to know what it says. I want to have read the books in context. So it's gonna happen this summer! The sooner I get it done, the better, no shame. I have all my life to disect it, lets just get it in my noggin.

167...so I'm sticking around the same. Reality is setting in that if I want to see that number change I have to do something about it. Dang it why can't it just magically change?!

I did a weigh in a little early since I realized I won't be home on Monday (visiting my family) and my scale read 165.8. I'll take it!

Hoping this + counting calories and portion control may help me lose some of the weight I want to lose so I can look good and feel good as a bridesmaid in Phoebe's (college amazing friend) wedding. Weighed myself twice so far, in two weeks I went from 172 to 167.4, weighed at the same time of day both days so I'm thinking I might've actually lost 5 lbs? But when I think about it, I hadn't drunk a lot of water that day so it might just be water weight. Just hoping it'll help me stay motivated to eat healthier so I can feel better about myself at that wedding.

I've decided that I want to want to do this. I don't actually want to. I'm gonna delete this from the list and potentially add it again later.

So I'm totally stinking at this...It's definitely going to take me more than 14 days since I think it's been a week and I haven't done it AT ALL. Progress not perfection, I know, but I need to at least make PROGRESS!

I downloaded the Headspace App after seeing that Ruthie Lindsay on insta (I follow her and love her insta stories and beautiful perfect life--even though I've heard her backstory and know she's not perfect and had to overcome a lot, I still love her beautiful looking life) incorporates that into her morning routine. I'm not huge into meditation (really NOT, I'm a Christian for crying out loud) but I've heard it can help with clearing anxious thoughts, can help with depression, can make life better, etc. so I figure why not give it a try? I tried the first two days already and I HATED having to sit still for a whole 20 min but I did feel clearer and better about life afterwards so I'd love to complete the 10 days, integrate it more in my life and see if it helps with getting the day started with the right frame of mind. Just checking it out.

@oyeathatgirl it is hard to get started, I always seem to find time (when I am officially meditating) to write the shopping list and mentally clean out the kitchen pantry, I asked a friemd about that once who does meditate and she said "Its hard to keep your mind still as well as your body, but just keep trying a little bit more each day" I actually made it to 30minutes once, but then I fell asleep, but she said "thats ok too, you needed to sleep!" Just give it a go if does help, build up in small stages 5, 10, 15 minutes any bit helps.
