Trying to outdo myself.
I'm trying my best to start trying to forming a closer connection to God. Since the mosque is nearby, I've been trying to perform my daily prayers there. I am trying to that habit of going to the mosque since I am going be at Mecca and Madinah.
As if God is answering my prayers, the mosque nearby has organized a class for Umrah. It starts on 29 September, plenty of time before I leave for my planned Umrah.
Maybe I can attend more religious classes.
May God make it easy for me.
This is a goal that plans has already been thought out and also had begun to take action.
It had always expressed my desire to visit the holy lands a long time ago however due to a lack of enthusiasm and most of the time financial constraints, I had been putting off this goal.
Recently I had found a tour agency that is offering a Umrah services at a discounted rate. The total package cost around SGD$2300.00(deposit SGD$500.00). It covers all including flight and meals for the entire day which I believe to be quite a pretty good deal. I'll cover around 48% of the total fees by the end of this coming month.
If everything goes well, I'll depart to Mecca and Medinah from 20 December till 31 December 2017. I hope everything goes as planned because as they always say, you can plan but its Allah that decides.
In reference to my previous entry on creating a budget.
I have come up with a lost of expenditure that will be important for this coming months projects. It will include my pocket money, money for Umrah, gold and also debt to be paid.
I am hoping I can get my 5 GM gold bar by the end of this year.
In the coming month, I will start drawing a higher salary than the previous month.
Even though there are some goals I am trying to pursue which may take a big portion of my pay, I hope I can at least put some money aside for buying some gold to continue with this current goal.
Mentioning about gold, I was thinking in investing in a higher value one rather of the smaller gold bars which I always buy. I am thinking of spending my money on a 5 GM gold bar. I think in order for me to achieve that, I have to carefully plan my budget. I am spending a bit too much on my stamps.
Recently I had been working for an artist as his personal assistant. I had already received my first pay however its not the full pay since I am on probation.
The first thing I bought was a small gold bar from the gold merchant that I wrote about in my last entry. The vouchers covered more than 80% of the cost.
I am thinking of getting another gold piece probably by the next pay.
More good news from the government.
The government had given hundred dollars worth of vouchers to be spend. However I am sure I can't exchange those for actual cash.
I was thinking that the only way for me to get the value worth is to buy gold. Lucky for me there's a famous gold merchant which accepts this vouchers.
Going to purchase a gold bar or coin in August which happens to also be the month that I will receive the cash out from the government.
The government had announced that they will be issuing some cash this coming august.
This is an opportunity for me to push my goal further ahead.
I was thinking if I should be buying gold instead of keeping the money. Gold is always the best and proven method for me; at least in saving money.
I have to also finish that loan I took when I bought that gold 916 pendant.
I've already registered for this year's Qurban.
I've done it earlier because I am afraid that they will run out of stock. Even overheard that the stock is running out fast in the mosque.
The ceremony will take place 01 Sep.
Registration for the Qurban has already been started in the mosque nearby me.
The government had already cash in some money into my account, the money really helps me out a lot for this goal. My family members and I have already out aside a portion of our money for next week registration. We're paying SGD$152.00 each to buy one sheep.
God willing I'll be able to register next week for our Qurban.
Already spoken with everyone, we agreed to split the cost amongst ourselves.
It will be a great family event!
Planning to put aside some of my money for a good cause. Nobody been broke donating to the unfortunate.
The cost of a Qurban usually range around SGD$400. Since I can't really afford the cost, I am going discuss with the family and hopefully we all can split the cost amongst ourselves.
I've actually feel fatter when I woke up this morning. Turns out I've hit new grounds with my weight, I am 80kg today. Which means I am officially overweight.
So I think the diet is very important and should kick in this week.
After work today I am going to buy a few pieces of chicken breast to kick in the diet. Besides that I'm going start jogging and swimming again.
I have derailed yet again in this goal.
I've found rather unflattering photos of myself online with a big tummy. It's pretty embarrassing and I'm not okay with it.
Hopefully that will start me working out. I need more self discipline when it comes to dieting and also sticking to an exercise programme.
Feeling a bit sad cause I haven't lose any weight at all.
Which is silly cause I just started this goal.
I have already started some cardio.
Just went swimming this morning. Hoping that I can keep at it.
I am planning to more cardio this following weeks before going on a diet plan.
I have been neglecting my body.
Faced with issues which is beyond my control. I chose to escape from my worries by eating more than I should and sleeping late. All of this bad habits had made me fat.
Now, being overweight. I am beginning to hate my own body. However in all the madness life is throwing at me, I feel I have some control over my body.
Hope that by losing some fabs, my self-confidence will be restored and I can go back and face all my problems once more.
Current weight: 75 kg
Desired weight: 70 kg
The world stamp exhibition is going be held in Singapore in the near future.
I was thinking that maybe I could display my thematic collection for the competition even though joining an international competition might be challenging for a novice. However, I dare say that I know a lot about my choice of topic; Chinese arts.
I had spent my time researching on stamp collecting and also about exhibiting them. So far as suggested from my sources, I've already come up with an exhibit plan to keep focused on my collection.
I also think its time for me to start listing the date and price of each of my stamp collection purchases, just in case I need to sell a way my collection to a buyer that willing to place a good price.
I've added on a few nice stamp sets to my thematic collection. I'm especially happy that the Mao Zhe Dong and Ba Da Shan Ren stamps I had ordered from Tao Bao had come safely.
I managed to get a few nice stamps from a few dealers which I happen to come by. I've got my hands on a mint stamps like the Johor King small head and also managed to get some calligraphy stamps set.
I've started a new content on my art Instagram page, using the stamps to educate my followers on Chinese art and calligraphy.
I've been borrowing books on stamp collecting too. Hope this will lead to something in the future.
This few weeks, I have been expanding both my postal history and also thematic collections.
I managed to get my hands on an almost complete set of minted hinged set of King George Penang. This morning I had ordered a much more comprehensive set of used King George Penang to compliment the latter.
Its always been my aspiration to collect both mint and used stamps when it comes to my postal history collection. However I feel I have to start buying some blocks etc to add on in order to make the collection much more diversified.
For the thematic collection, I've managed to get my hands on several types of stamps to compliment my topic on Chinese painting and calligraphy. I am hoping to expand my calligraphy collection, it seems that its easier too get the paintings rather than the calligraphy.
One of the minted stamps Chinese painting stamps I got was one that was one that was issued by the National Museum called the William Farquar collection. Its a series of painting of Singapore's wild life that William engaged to record the natural life here. Besides that I've bought a few more yesterday night from Taobao, China. Hoping that it will arrive safe.
I've started collecting stamps earlier this year and its starting to be quite an obsession.
Just like any stamp collector, I have this urge to exhibit my collection. I've decided to divided my collection to two themes, thematic and postal history. Its my dream to exhibit them and maybe one day even publish it in a beautiful book.
There is nothing much to discuss when it comes to postal history. It's just collecting the missing puzzle pieces issued by postoffice at different eras. I'm currently collecting Malaya post independent stamps and they have been described by many as one of the most challenging.
It's been almost four months since I started collecting Malaya stamps and I can relate. Malaya stamps are divided into the thirteen states with each its own unique issued stamp. Apart from that there are overprints by the Japanese when they occupied Malaya and British Military Administration(BMA) stamps after world war 2. It's a big mess and the stamps are very expensive.
For thematic I've started collecting stamps mainly from China and Taiwan. My thematic collection is based on Chinese Calligraphy and arts (a subject close to my heart). Unlike the Malaya stamps, most of my stamp in the thematic collection is new and therefore in most occasion slightly affordable. Unlike postal history, the way I arrange my stamps depends on me.
I've started collecting Chinese arts stamps only a few months back.
A few months ago, I had participated in an open call for an online magazine called X mag.
I had submitted my calligraphy for one of their joint art work. Apparently, they going make my calligraphy 3D. I have no idea at all how that's going work out, just knew I did my part.
I believe I have the opportunity to another platform to publish my article on Chinese calligraphy. I'll let them know about it once they have successful launch the magazine.
I have actually written my article on Chinese calligraphy and had actually had it vetted by several friends and mentors. Unfortunately, I haven't found the opportunity nor the proper platform to publish the article.
I am hoping that one day, the opportunity would show itself.
After saving, it will be sealed for 2 years. Are you sure you wrote everything you want?

I truly believe Augustine’s words are true and if you look at history you know it is true. There are many people in the world.
