I'm in the process of making my own job as a Simple Life Designer. Helping others to a more minimal lifestyle, removing clutter and stress. Still I need a regular job to pay my bills in the beginning while starting up my business.

Went to an entrepreneur workshop yesterday. The teacher talked about what it means to have an entrepreneur mindset.

Instead of thinking of "the maximum" - the need to have everything ready before launching your business, which basically means being to perfectionistic and delaying the process - you need to think of "the minimum": what does it minimum take to start? What is the smallest effort you can make to made any kind of progress?

Being a person prone to procrastination caused by perfectionism it really made sense to me that I have to change my mindset to see any progress in starting my own business instead of hiding behind "getting ready".

    Umbria, Italy 🙂

Just spend a week in this lovely part of Italy in its full spring coat. It is much more calm and authentic than Toscany in my opinion.

Stayed in the small town of Deruta and went by car on daytrips. Went to Assisi to see the church of St. Francesco, to Orvieto to see the beautiful cathedral and to Siena (alright, that is in Toscany) with the splendid Town Hall Square.

But best of all was the slow life, the simple quality food and the green hills topped with medieval small towns set in stone hundreds of years ago. This is an area of peace. I would highly recommend it.

Finished the knitted kitchen dishcloth, yah! :-)

I have already started a new one, but I have decided to knit every time I watch tv/online shows - that will make me finish them faster and prevent me from snacking at the same time. Totally win-win :-)

I'm very good at starting new projects, but not very good at finishing things. That is a common issue in my life, I'm afraid. Often I leave a trail of unfinished projects behind me, making me feel discouraged and overwhelmed.
I long for being able to focus on one max two projects at a time, so I feel progress and accomplishment in my creativity.

As of Feb 24th, 2017 I have these projects:

    • Reupholster my coach and ottoman

    • Make two pillowcases with piping for the bedroom

    • Knit a kitchen dishcloth

    • Sew a pillow for my balcony chair

    • Art project with wooden blocks

    • Framing photo art for the living room

The list seems a bit overwhelming. Maybe I should make each of them into separate goals.....

As part of setting up my business I need to create a website. I'm a newbie in webdesign and some of the technical issues slow me down, but I'm determined to solve it.

      @yonismohamoud Thanks, I appreciate your offer to help &#xsmile;
I have been setting up a landing page for a client, my first ever, using Divi from ElegantThemes. I struggled at first, but now I've managed to make a fairly decent page. Making it responsive has been the biggest challenge.
My own website I'm setting up in Studiopress, a lot more regular coding. Definitely a challenge too and time consuming, but I think it is fun.
I have looked at your webpage landsome.org - looking good &#xsmile; I really like your design for the Services page. I might copy that &#xsmile; What framework are you working in?

      @maggieonwheels

I am glad that you are enjoying the challenge. I am definately looking forward to seeing what you are working on.

I normally code everything completely scratch using Bootstrap, AngularJS, HTML, CSS, and javascript (front-end). NodeJS and NoSQL (backend).

But when I need to set up a simple and quick website up i.e. Landsome.org, I would use a drag and drop website like wix.com. You do not need any coding experience at all to create a beautiful and responsive website. It is simply awesome

      P.S. I am not an affiliate of Wix.com 😜

I lost my job one year ago. It was a blessing in disguise, because I wasn't very happy there. After 15 yrs more or less unsatisfied in the corporate world I knew I needed to find my true passion and soon realised I wanted to create my own job.

I'm setting up my own business as a Simple Life Designer.

So many people feel overwhelmed by all their stuff, the things they need to do and other commitments. They long for a different life filled with more of the things that brings them joy and good energy. Instead they feel trapped in everyday life like in a hamster wheel. No time for the good stuff.

I want to help people to conquer the stress from clutter and noise and help them design a life that contributes to more of what matters. There is no formula that fits everyone. It needs to be tailored to your specific needs.

When you decide what is important in your life, it is easier to see what you need to get rid of. The things that no longer serve you and the life you want to live right now.

What can be difficult is to let go of those things for various reasons. Sentimental attachment, keeping it "just in case", fear of "I might need this one day", "it was expensive".....and this is where I can help as a coach.

I'm excited for the future although I know it's hard work with lots of worries to be your own boss. But that is also exactly what is the great part of being independent. I don't have to do things anymore that makes me unhappy. I can design my own life just like I want it to be :-)

@maggieonwheels So far, I've only just realised that a huge part of my problem is procrastination! I've been lying to myself for so many years that there will be a "right time" and that "I'll do it tomorrow!". I'm in denial that life is a struggle, and that my decisions have consequences.

@kvazaux It's not unusual to feel that way. You're being very hard on yourself.
We are conditioned to think that everything must be perfect from the start, or that we don't have the connections, know how etc...etc...

I found that watching /reading/listening to stories and advice of successful business owners help put things in perspective.

I follow people like Marie Forleo, Jeff Walker, Derek Halpern, Sally Hogshead...

            Hope it helps!

You can type any date in plain English like in 3 weeks or next month.
You can also type in recurring due date like every day, every week and every month.
