I just meditated outside for a while. It's warm and clear and sunny despite being in the north during February. I just stretched in the sunlight for a while, then laid in the grass to feel the earth beneath me, trying to let things go and bond with it in a way. I focused on drawing magick towards me and making it welcome in my presence, familiarizing myself with its sensations. I've been very uptight and anxious today, but this helped me very much. I feel very rested. After a while I meditated for a couple of minutes just focusing on my breathing and being in the present. It's difficult for me to stay focused because I don't do this often, but I'll improve with time. I think one of the best parts was taking my clothes off and letting the wind and sun touch my bare skin (of course in an area outside where nobody would see me). It's surprising how good it can feel to have the sunlight on parts of you that are always hidden.

Several years ago I trained in figure skating. I got decent. Not competitive professional level, but decent. Guiltily enough my new obsession with Yuri on Ice makes me want to get back into it. I'm only seventeen so maybe I still have a little bit of time to get back in shape and master some of those jumps and spins. Who knows. All I know is right now I for sure can't afford a coach.

I first found this song while watching figure skating videos of Yuzuru Hanyu. I was enthralled really because his performance is beautiful and flows with the song so well. I'm also generally a fan of Hisaishi. It's been a while since I tried to learn a song on piano but this is probably where I'll start to get back into it .

    hierowolff Doing 4 cheers 2017-03-01 02:31:43

Ahhhh I am having a lot of...feelings. I haven't been online in the last few days but my mind drifts to growing wings almost every hour. It makes my heart swell. I haven't even started or researched the bird I am interested in (barn, horned, or eagle owl). I've been meditating on it. I want to make sure if I do it I have the right motives, and I want to be able to plan beforehand...I also want to tackle my doubt which I have been improving on. I have my own reasons for believing the supernatural and I think the more I reason with myself, the more I believe this can actually be done. For once deep down I feel like I actually am beginning to have faith in something. I don't think the realm of what is out there and what is possible is false, I think it's just the majority of people we are faced with- people with the wrong motives or without the correct insight and patience to make things work correctly.

There are a lot of things I feel I need to do before I start. The meditating, yes, but I also want to improve my astral projection and things similar. I'm still not sure who or what I am (as far as my spirit goes). I have vague ideas but I want to know what I am really capable of before I try anything else, i.e. if I'm any type of kin or a kinetic, maybe even what I was in past lives if I can. I think the last thing especially would help me uncover my true desires and motives.

I have really been considering the logistics, though. If you have wings I think you really have to plan far ahead, at least in my situation. I'm in college with an undetermined major. I live in a populated area. I live with a family that would shun me if they found out what I believed. I feel unsettled about many things in the world and I'm still figuring out what I really want. I'm beginning to realize what I DON'T want, however. A lot of money (I would want enough to live minimalistically and comfortably but grandeur is pointless). A nice car and house. A stationary life, a 9-5 job, a concrete family and husband. Those don't appeal to me. I don't care much for what this society claims success is. What does call me? That's not so clear to me, but this is drawing me in. Either way though I'd want to go in with no regrets, really decide if it's what I want. If I grow wings, I can't have a physical job, I can't live in a populated area, nor can I travel the world (normally), visit my family, or have close real life relationships with people outside of the spn/avian community. Would I feel alright with sacrificing that?

And what does the avian life offer? That is harder to put into words, but the thought of flight and feathers just makes my heart flutter. I'm not entirely sure why, but if I don't want a life in this society...maybe living in the wilderness and drifting from place to place with a kind of hidden or nomadic life would work? I'm not sure how it would all work out though I repeat- so if you guys have any ideas/experience/knowledge on life after wings are grown feel free to tell me about it below.

Anyways though there is a list of things I want to check off before I seriously devote myself to growing wings. If I go in, it won't be wishy-washy.

    1. Staying in college for a bit and exploring a few jobs, seeing if I develop a passion for any.

    2. Keeping some detailed journals on travelling and how much I love it for a bit to really see if it's something I'm willing to sacrifice.

    3. Isolating myself and living frugally for a while when I can (I'm talking legit out in the wilderness) to see how I psychologically handle the possible loneliness and being secluded from civilization.

    4. Exploring jobs over the internet and jobs I can do from home to see if there is a way I could support myself if I had wings.

    5. Meditating and working on myself a shit ton more because I don't want to take on a challenge to grow wings while I'm still a troubled/depressed person- I don't want to make major life decisions while I'm not mentally altogether. I also want to make sure a sense of depression isn't fueling my wish to grow wings. I want it to be genuine.

ANYWAYS this was a hella long post but I just needed to ramble. What do all of you guys think?

I have some other questions too. How long do you think it takes to grow wings before they get too big to hide? Is it better to have everything in life set before you even start or to work on setting it up while you're growing? I'm older than a lot of people here, I just hope there isn't an age limit to this. Time flies.

I'm also curious about you guys. What are your motives and reasons for growing wings? How many of you think it can actually be done and what do you plan on doing if/when it works? What are your feelings on the cons and the fact it will practically isolate you from the rest of the world?

@smoggysiren It seems we're in the same situation honestly- My family are bible-thumping and have no idea about my beliefs, except my dad, but that's only because he found pagan books in my room. He's since confiscated them and told me never to speak of these things. I've reverted my studies and communication to the cyber world. I got a tablet to download e-books and make sure my family's unable to trace me to sites like this and it's worked well so far. I think it'll be easier for both of us when we're able to become independent of our families and do what we need to do. While I'm not looking into being a priestess myself, I really do support your endeavors. When it comes to paganism I really prefer to be a solitary practitioner, though I do enjoy associating with others. When it comes to money I think that being able to support yourself could be easier than you think. I'm not sure how covens work or if you're interest in being a priestess plays into joining one, but I think there is a bit of a financial structure to those like there is for pastors in churches. You could also use your passions to support yourself, such as having sessions for inquiries, writing books on paganism, selling various potions, crystals, etcedera, as well as working other side-jobs whether it be selling things online or working part-time. As long as you live pretty minimalistically it's not that hard to be flexible on your own.

@renmistmoon and @owlfeather I think I have to agree with Owl on this one. Wings, shifting, and honestly all other forms of manipulating your body with magick play into logical universal laws as she said. Having read the entire Maximum Ride series I've concluded it's pretty misleading and illogical in itself, not to mention it jumps the shark. I actually think it's a shame that growing wings has become a small fad within some young people due to that series- it completely skews their expectations. For your wings to be retractable into your body they would have to be much smaller, only a few feet, which is not enough area for you to generate lift in order to fly. In order to fly, the wingspan probably needs to be at least twenty feet if not more. If you look at the proportions of birds, their bodies are far more miniscule than their wings, and even then smaller due to the fact that most of their "size" is actually just feathers and empty air. The actual meat and bone weighs only a few ounces.

Expecting to find a way for wings to retract into bodies is the only illogical thing here. Otherwise, growing wings follows natural laws as long as you as a person accept that these natural laws are able to be manipulated through magick and intention. There's no reason to say that it's not possible, but it is reasonable to say it's vastly difficult because in this realm/dimension/whatever it's called there's far less magick.

@hierowolff I wouldn't mind talking further in the PM on this site. Feel free to ask me further questions there if you don't want to "clutter up this goal" with your and my responses. :)

As for the spirits. What I will say at the moment (when not in private) is that in some way, I always was talking to spirits. It's just for the longest time it was my "imaginary friends" or two dragon spirits with a cheetah spirit who would accompany me on my regular travels around the country. They went away in middle school but starting about then I got into the New Age and spiritual/metaphysical community about that time. I really got into it around 14 years old or so, and honed my ability to talk to more than just three well-known spirits. I met a lot of weird spirits that stopped by during my teenage years, then met a friend on the old grow wings site when I was 17 years old. I and my friend somehow kickstarted each other's spiritual awakening in a VERY dramatic fashion, which led to the friendly family and friends spirits from the same home world both of our spirits originally came from. Over the years, we built up a wonderful support network together, until we are here in this present day and age, with a very well-developed, shared group of spirits.

It made me feel very good and happy to read that my replies made your day. 🙂 And yes, the psychological need for me to have wings to complete my body is great enough that I wish to pursue this even if I may not achieve flight in this lifetime. I am not the least bit bothered by the thought of having big wings 24/7. To me, honestly, they'd be a dream, a paradise. Even without flying, just HAVING them physical would be more than enough for me at this point. ❤

I'm glad my answers to your Q&A gave you a lot to think about. 🙂 I'm honestly surprised that nobody has thought of the cosplay idea before? It came to my mind when I saw some amazingly realistic or just detailed wing sets those times I went to Arisia Sci-Fi convention and one time to Anime Con. If there was a good support base for the wings to rest on and not move unduly, as well as look like it was deliberately made by hands overall... then it'd be very easy to get away with that excuse as long as people don't touch it for very long. 🙂 I'm very good at "hiding in plain sight" to be honest. It's one of my best skills. I feel confident in devising further creative ways to get around problems or to adapt to new situations as they arise, to continue hiding in plain sight without others suspecting. 🙂 Deception can be a very good useful tool indeed, if you're used to engaging in it when necessary. I do know how to be honest when needed, so there is that as well. :)

@hierowolff I'm figuring things out. I will keep trying to get that aspect, and if that is not possible, it's not too much of an issue. It's honestly my own belief. I don't want to start any trouble with this, so I'll just leave it here.

I have a much broader view than most here about what magick can do. I hope this doesn't mean I won't be taken at all seriously here. I know spells don't work alone, and conservation of mass is a requirement with metaphysical shifting due to the process. But I will maintain my stance on wing growth. Sorry if this ends in me having to leave the goal, as I have a feeling you won't be as friendly to someone with "fake beliefs".

@renmistmoon Nah this is isn't a place to judge people for their beliefs. You won't be thrown out unless you go out of your way to cause trouble, which you're not.

It's good to receive input from multiple sides. I suppose I jumped to an argument because you stated that the things here were illogical. It was easy for me to take that as you being confrontational or naive in the way things work here but from your statement previously it's clear you're respectful of differing beliefs. I apologize if I seemed confrontational.

I'm double-posting but I simply have a lot to ask. I promise that I'll chill out after a while xD Anyone experienced and informed who can explain a lot to me would be greatly appreciated. This isn't specifically about wings but supernatural aspects in general. This is going to be an unorganized ramble because I'm not sure how to put this but thanks to anyone who reads through it.

I'm not familiar with this group in any way personally. I'm approaching this skeptically. That's not to say I don't believe in the supernatural, but the niche in which I'm willing to believe is undefined. I have known many people of a supernatural ilk, mainly shifters. They are people I have been incredibly close to and invested in, and whose words I trust. Their explanations of the supernatural, fae, spiritual, shifter, and avian worlds have been coherent, detailed, and honestly are too extensive to be lies. I was very involved with things like this from late 2015-17 in depth through closed circles on the internet, and while my past friends' words and behavior have convinced me, I am still skeptical of the methods and members of other online groups.

I want to know what this is all cracked up to be, and I want to know why, through even my close friends, I have never received physical, video, or photo evidence. It's a good argument that it's for security and to keep the government/hunters/whatever out of your business, but I would have thought by now in some way I would have tangible proof. Is there a place to go to for this? Is there a person I could go to for this? Are there papers, blogs, scientific texts, records? Something, anything physical and solid- that would alleviate me of this horrible paranoia and doubt. I'm such a skeptical person it pains me to be believing in something without something I can look at, so I can know that these places aren't just groups of extremely imaginative atypical teenagers that by some coincidence I've been fated to be surrounded by.

I could argue I myself have personally experienced proof, but it's all been of a dream-like/astral/spiritual ilk, things I don't put beyond me being able to just dream up through placebo: astral forms, spiritual attacks, past lives, "psychic-like" premonitions and feelings. Once again things I can't physically look at. Things I can't put past human imagination and error. Back when I was Christian, I could swear I felt God's presence and him answering my prayers, but now that I know that's fake, what will make this any different than the placebo I felt back then?

What have you guys experienced and felt that leads you to believe in these things? What do you know? How did you get here? Why do you stay here? I want to know why you believe what you believe.

Another thing I am also aware of: I know there are bullshitters on the internet, especially among the teenage crowd, people who have brainwashed themselves or who want to be special so come up with this stuff. I have stumbled across plenty of people like that, but I know it's NOT all of them. I just need to know if you people are the real thing. And I need to somehow be convinced that people really are the real thing. This feels like muddied and unsure waters that I'm stepping into, and if I make friends here I want to be able to know they tell the truth and that they are sane.

A completely off-topic topic is also if you guys know other places and communities similar to this, not just for avians but all things in this...realm. An interest in avians is only a small percentage of what I really want to learn about, but this is the only living place I have been able to find where possible legit supernatural-believers are.

Anyways sorry of any of this was offensive or seemed harsh. I don't like to go around claiming I don't believe in what people devote their lives to: I'm not saying I don't believe. I am very open-minded, but I need to know for sure somehow.

@hierowolff IDK about how others understand magic but I managed to figure out how to explain magic to myself at the least.

It's something that I knew was always there but I wasn't sure how to access. I think of magic as being like ma-gy where the first part is from "manipulable" and the second part is "energy." So basically manipulable energy. Energy you can manipulate.

It's responsive to your thoughts/intentions, and often acts like a middleman between you and the substances around you that you want to influence. It's a wide, expansive field that bonds with everything. It loves bonding with all sorts of atoms that it can find.

However, like opening a container of oxygen, if there are areas that have less magic than others, then if you release magic into those voids, then it'll quickly disperse into it and seem to vanish. That's because it didn't actual vanish. It just spread out like a released gas, but because it's trying to fill all the space in an equal amount, and there's very little of it to begin with, it ends up being a very small percentage of the space and therefore hard to notice.

I have noticed that there is very little magic here on this planet compared to many other places in the universe. Also the "void" is a curiously specific band. Above 3,000 feet above the ground surface there is a lot more magic to be found. (Source: My observations when sky diving in Maine, how much magic there was around 10,000 feet above sea level, compared to closer to the ground, and on the ground itself.) I have been told by those who like to dive that there's a similar feel of more and more magic to be found the deeper into the ocean you get. Curiously, that leaves a defined band of almost sparse magic that includes all the areas where humans live. The rest of the planet above and below that band seems quite fine in magic, by comparison.

In any case, the magic wants to be used. It wants to bond with everything. It's very responsive to thoughts, intentions, commands, but can get confused if you send out mixed messages that contradict each other. The more you use it, the more familiar you become with each other, the more it bonds with you and your body, and the easier it is to manipulate it.

I find that thinking of it as a science in this way has helped me to be able to utilize magic in a lot clearer and easier basis.

@indigowings Your observations are interesting and rather informative. What would you think the reasons could be that the magick is sparser in human habitations? Is it maybe that human intentions are very muddled, skeptical, and confusing nowadays, and it kind of wards it off? Whenever I think of bustling civilization or a city, I just imagine a black static cloud- or rather I just sort of feel it. Then again it could be nothing.

@hierowolff From what I've noticed, the magic field is responsive to one's intentions, thoughts, and commands. Muddied ones do confuse the magic, but the problem is that it follows all sorts of intentions. All sorts. INCLUDING those of not believing in it, believing it's somehow "bad" or "evil," and especially something to "be gotten rid of."

All those intentions send out a strong message of "go away, don't come close, don't touch me, I don't want you here, leave." It's pretty strong in it's own right. Of course the magic field is gonna obey a strong, clear intention.

You want it to go away? It'll go away. You want it to come closer and work with you? Believe in it and love it and invite it close? It'll come close and tentatively at first try to work with you. The more you're committed to working with it, the more eager it becomes to work with you, through your show of loyalty and faith and devotion and unceasing invitation for it to come close.

I believe the predominate attitude towards magic in this modern world as "made-up, stupid, silly, frou-frou, not real" as well as "evil, dangerous, corrupt, must be destroyed and gotten rid of, etc." all combine to send a VERY strong message of "GO AWAY" that it obeys now. To counter it, you'd need a strong message of "COME CLOSE, We invite you here, we want you here, please stay with us, we love having you here."

I mean, if you don't wanna hang around when someone is yelling and spitting obscenities in your face, treating you as dangerous and evil, or ignoring you and treating you as if you don't exist and aren't wanted around in any way, shape, or form... why do you think magic wants to stay? It's MORE responsive to intents than any human is. Of course it's going to follow the predominate intentions.

And that's how we as a species screwed ourselves over big time and are making it even worse.

This is my thoughts and observations alone however. Feel free to believe differently, since I don't pretend to know the ins and outs of everything, not by far! But this is what explains the behavior of magic very well to me from my continuous experimentations and observations upon the matter.

I have specific questions about what to do socially if wings are actually grown.

Are there effective ways to hide them so you can do normal things like run to the supermarket? Perhaps to work at a job that doesn't involve constant contact with people? I don't associate with many people to even begin with, nor do I go to many tightly-packed or social gatherings.

If I try this, it will also be a while from now when I have other things figured out, but I just want to have what to plan for in the back of my head if I choose to. I am already not a very social person and enjoy the reclusive wilderness, so it isn't too much of a sacrifice for me, but being unable to have face-to-face human contact at all or a job to sustain myself would be too much of a sacrifice.

@hierowolff We live in a world that is so reliant on the internet that as long as certain business can reach your doorstep to drop something off, then you can order food online or over the phone. There are sites that allow you to pay people to grocery shop for you, or even to get groceries from amazon (wild!) Same with clothing, games, etc. As long as you have a credit card or some way to pay for it. Renewing cards like that might be tricky. Living with others who can go out, look "normal" do the necessary things that maintaining a house, getting reliable income, and doing the necessary errands might be something you need to do. Living in a place that has a lot of acres where you can fly over it without being seen as readily might be mandatory.

As for a paid job that doesn't require showing up in person, or perhaps even showing your face at all, just look to the internet. We have youtube paying those who have a lot of followers, book blogging where you're paid to give a review for an ARC (advanced reader copy) to stir up excitement for an upcoming release, selling designs on stuff like t-shirts and cups, and so on can be done easily over the web.

You just need imagination and the ability to research online and try out unconventional methods and paths. The internet is a wonderful thing indeed that can readily connect you to the rest of the world without you having to step foot outside your door or see them face-to-face in person.

@chaoserebus Uh, no. Shifting follows the ideal of the Law of Conservation of Mass, meaning no new mass is created or destroyed, which is what allows for the ability to convert and shape your mass into something else.

You aren't changing existing mass when you grow wings, as you gain new muscle, new bone, while keeping your existing bone and muscle.

@chaoserebus Dear, I was born a dragon shifter. I know what shifting is.

In becoming a dragon, dragons have wings, no? many dragon shifters are overweight, those cells transform into the wings and wing muscle.

Shifting does not require the growth of new cells, nor is it the growth of new cells. Shifting is transforming what you already have.

@xsahde it seems you were born to bs people. You're not a dragon if you believe that shit. You don't know what shifting is if you say stuff like that.

You can type any date in plain English like in 3 weeks or next month.
You can also type in recurring due date like every day, every week and every month.
