Walking in the door at work monday after being off for 4 weeks vacation and giving them my resignation. !!! hands down one of the finest moments of my 23 year career. Making the change and going to a competitor, I have no fear I know I have made the right decision. The best part is 23 years of goodwill and wonderful people at the company I left this week threw lunches for me, send heartfelt messages, told me how much I was respected and when I left on Wednesday...Yup I took the 2 weeks notice and used more vacation 😛 It was a long line of hugs, kisses, tears from some but best of all leaving on a completely high note with so much support! I made this move because as a company It was missing the mark, but the people who I worked with are truly incredible gems. As I walked out feeling as excited as if I was headed on a date with a new exciting love I realized I was living well and it is the best revenge.

Im not out for revenge, but this quote has stuck with me through my 20's until now. Its not about snubbing your nose at another....its about a quality of life you give yourself. How you treat yourself about the riches you enjoy....small pleasures or big. The revenge part to me is simply the satisfaction of knowing in your heart that you don't need to shout out your worth its there with you...when you walk talk smile confidence that you know in your heart and in your head that you are living well....and well....it is the best revenge.

I have this idea for the garage which is such a great space but currently only is a waiting area for incoming and outgoing clutter. The good news is its completely drywalled inside and has nice shelving units on the back wall. My vision is to remove the junk, paint the floor white or grey, paint the wall, hang the dartboard (now we have a place to play) Stereo system insert, small beer fridge and lots of flowers and planters around the outside entrance...seeing as no vehicle will park in the garage....I have some muskoka adirondack chairs to put out front with the plants. Also thinking of putting my treadmill in the garage so in the early mornings I can see out and have fresh air while Im working out. But would like to keep garage as a games room where my 2 teens can use with their friends.

@hhannah my neighbors made their garage into some kind of a rec room and on nice evenings they open the door and hang out there with friends. It is neat seeing them there and nice to think that they are right there able to see anything going on around the street.

Last minute road trip this weekend to see the solar eclipse. Sunday noon we packed an overnight bag and set off. We travelled down past Lake Erie stopping in Leamington to get a picture in front of the BIG TOMATO yes there is a big tomato (Leamington used to have the Heinz Ketchup Factory there). Stopped in at a winery can't remember the name but had the number 42 in it....there was a jazz concert going on in the vineyard and they were doing wine tasting and you could buy it by the glass and sit out in the grassy area and listen to the concert. Felt amazingly relaxed so surprised what we had stumbled upon. Next stop was a marina where we ate our homemade sandwiches and watched the paddle boarders out in the lake go by. By evening we had crossed the ambassador bridge and headed through Detroit and were soon in Ohio. By monday noon we decided we couldn't go any further because the drive home would be too long and we had to be back for work on tuesday. We bought a bottle of wine and headed for a park with our special glasses and watched as the eclipse happened. I was really surprised that one little sliver of the sun still gave out so much light! Interesting last minute spontaneous happened upon thing that should have been on the list!!!

so a funny thing happened at the wedding yesterday. I was talking with some friends about my son and him wanting to play classical piano but we don't have a piano at this time. The friend to my left then said her church was getting rid of their piano and would I like to have it !!!!???!!! what? How surprised I was she instantly called her pastor and arranged this for my son. We are going to her Sri-Lankan church next weekend with her. This will be so nice and I will give a donation to church and my son a thank you letter to J. It is incredible when God is at work. Truly amazed at this spontaneous happened upon thing that God had in mind.

I say this because you remind me of me and how I always think I have to do something else first...like lose weight before I go back to the gym. This is procrastinative thinking so Just go get started and by 2018 you will be snorkelling or diving!

A hard goal and a re-occurring goal I had on the early 43t was "Get Over Him".....I spent hours of my life getting over different Hims....I think I actually mastered the fine are of Getting over him throughout that period of my life.
Looking back now I just shake my head at how obsessive I was newly single and so unsure about myself.

How did I do it...coles notes after the crying and all the pathetic stuff we do to get over when your heart is broken ruptured damaged....I travelled a lot and met new people developed my own interests, focused on my kids and family, realized thats what friends are for, spent time alone, dated and thought this process realized me for me and what I want and my terms who I accept or not, and it became apparent that the one person I had been trying to get over all this time really wasn't worth it. Yes lots of mistakes along the way but now I am The one that someone else has to get over. Im happy where I am where Im going and never have to get over any HIM again. I don't mean in a nasty way like I'm so over him...Im just so much more into me!

Let me start with my very first goal. Travel to Paris...and I did it on my own. Birthday present to me when I turned 40! Looking back this was a game changer moment of my life and started world travel alone and with friends. If you ever fear doing something alone....dont fear the strength it brings you to do something out of your comfort zone. This was the beginning of a new life for me. It was in March 2011 found 43 things....and amidst planning this trip to Paris. I shared all of this before and it is still my first goal on the list and first goal completed. Since then I have went back several times and still know friends there.

Anyway, one day I will go back to Europe. When, I don't know, but it probably won't be to visit Paris, rather other areas of Europe.

I think in the area we live, there is a lot more cactus than by the Grand Canyon. In the past I have been to the Louvre, Musee d'Orsay, Seen a Manet exhibit and a Monet exhibit. Rodin Gallery and numerous small galleries. At home here in Toronto (Art Gallery of Ontario) Always The Group of Seven (most recently Lauren Harris - masterful). The most political exhibit I saw here was Al Wei Wei -hope i spelled that right. Took my son to the Freida Khalo exhibit - he loved her eyebrow!

@hhannah Hi Hannah! Seriously, it is so so hard to find a place that does good fish and chips with clean oil, that has chips that are not too oily and doesn't upset your stomach the next day. People here don't know what good food tastes like and so food places aren't under any pressure to do their best. The nicest fish and chips I've had in the last year have been made by my South American husband at home, in a cheap pub that buys in premade food and in a supermarket chain cafe. Please just don't be disappointed, and be wary of following advice from google reviews because the majority of people here are content with substandard quality food.

Really focusing on learning how to listen to my 15 year old son. Teens they don't say much and usually its just asking me for things that I don't really want to buy him (mountain dew, junk food or money for these) However he mentioned he wanted to change schools. This isn't news because last year I made the unpopular decision to change his school from the public to the catholic - he was doing so poorly and I thought that a change in schools and structure may help him. Since day 1 he has wanted me to change him back to Public and I shook my head I said no....I said lets see how this year goes. So here we are end of the year he had back off over past few months and I thought he had grown accustomed to the new school. Then he asked again this week.....I instantly wanted to say NO! But something changed in me....I asked him WHY? Gave him the opportunity to tell me why...yes a lot has to do with friends but they aren't bad friends and he certinly hasn't done any better at the catholic school. Long story short - Im learning to listen and it felt really good.

Instead I have found myself driving slower, gesturing to others to go ahead first, not losing my mind when I miss a light because someone in front of me is too slow. Lately its been replaced with this peaceful woman with a little curled up smile on her lips enjoying the drive in her new ride. Driving slow enough so you can " take a look at me" Finding uncommon grace in traffic gridlock daily is close to divine meditation.

Driving into my hometown today to visit my parents....Pink Floyd on the radio Wish You Were Here. God that reminds me so much of that town, those friends, that song....memories of Seeing Pink Floyd in concert in Toronto, Seeing Roger Waters play several times and most recently about 3 years ago Roger Waters the WALL tour was beyond amazing. How an album and this man could make this so poignant this day age and time it was TIMELESS. Absolutely one of the best concerts I ever saw with that huge stage.

Memory Lane.....MB, MH, ST....crazy times MB your Pink Candillac. I had a big remember when yesterday I heard that Bruce Springsteen song "Pink Cadillac" and it took me back to that time when the four of us were all hanging out having fun in your pink cadillac...and then I had to go and marry that damn fool MH. "

"honey it aint your money, cause baby Ive got plenty of that, I love you for your pink cadillac, crushed velvet seats, riding in the back, cruising down the street, waving to the girls, feeling out of sight, spending all my money on a saturday night. Honey I just wonder what you do there in the back of your Pink Cadillac....Pink Cadillac.

When I last was on 43 thing some one goal I remember having on it was to be a money magnet. I would record found money. It was a fun goal because usually when I found money it went straight into someone else pocket and I could remember these little exchanges and get real enjoyment out of having it all listed. It was a never ending goal but I have retired it from my new 43.

Started swimming lengths again this week at the gym, felt amazing well except for my shoulder but after a few days it improved and will be heading back. They also have this steam room and incredible cold plunge pool that made me feel so tingling and fresh afterwards! Weight....going down lost 6 LBS in past 2 weeks.

Damn what was going so well in January, February and part of March is just gone downhill. I hate the medication I am on right now as I gain weight and because I can't breathe I can't work out and wear it off. Prednisone till end of April....then back to work on my beach body.

Princess Diana. To have the opportunity to learn from such a kind heart. To have an ounce of this womans caring in me would be like wearing a crown. She was quiet, shy Di....as they portrayed her however I see this trait as her being very smart within her role....she managed herself with dignity and grace, class that cannot be bought. As a woman, as a mother I have held so much respect for her. This year was the 20th anniversary of her death. I remember the day very well because I was pregnant with my daughter. I came out of my bedroom at the cottage early in the morning to have my dad tell me the news....like he was breaking the news that my sister was the one who had died. He used her name as Diana....thats it....there was no need to elaborate on who he was talking about and I felt such an udder disapointment and disbelief. Recently her sons and Kate did a small documentary about their mother and how much influence she has held on them to this day. They are truly her children beautiful souls inside and out.

meeting family would be where I would start. I would like to know my mothers fathers background more as they came up on underground railroad....I assume they were slaves in the U.S but how many generations. What was their real names and not their owners name. Breaks my heart but want to know.

@hhannah Love it. That's such a wonderful aim. Reminds me of "Roots". Have you no information on them at all? Is there any way or place where you can research? There must be some records somewhere. Good luck on your search. I'd like to hear of any progress.

I once read a story about a woman who lived to be 100 years old and she was asked what she contributed her life longevity to....she didn't hesitate to answer that she ate a bag of cheesies each day! Ok now that I am armed with this tried and true fountain of youth I will allow myself some cheesies once in awhile....for health sake!

You can type any date in plain English like in 3 weeks or next month.
You can also type in recurring due date like every day, every week and every month.
