My friend was visiting me so I haven't been hitting the books like I should (or at all since she has been here), however, I noticed some improvements in my Japanese ability from all of the times I had to explain things to her, and I did a better job of it than I thought I could. I am proud of myself for that.

I bought some basic Japanese textbooks and phrasebooks. I speak Japanese, a bit and my listening and speaking skills are okay, but my reading and writing skills are very low. I also want to communicate more effectively with people and hopefully be able to make more friends and date more effectively in Japan.

My friend came to visit me and I had been worrying the whole time about needing to break into my emergency fund. I am happy to say that I didn't have to do that. Just having a little set aside, no matter how little, gives you peace of mind, a small sense of security and the bigger it gets, the better I feel and the more confident that I am not totally failing at this whole "adulting" thing.

I want to become more frugal and careful with my money. The first steps are to build a cushion/ emergency fund so that I can feel more secure and pay off my student loans and other debts. After that I can work on financial freedom. I don't make a lot of money, but I like my job a lot, so I will focus instead on minimalism - spending money on the important things and getting rid of things I don't need. I will also try and see if I can make some extra money through creative ventures on the side.

@danicayoung Really glad that you are trying to keep a job you enjoy (it can make a big difference to like what you're doing) and adjust accordingly. It all seems like a sound plan to me. πŸ™‚

went to the farmer's market today and loaded up on mixed salads and lots of fresh fruit. It is going to be a good week. I still have vegetables from the fruit and vegetable box, but not so much and this will allow me more combinations, plus I was out of fruit. I love going there.

@danicayoung Plant-based, whole food eating is something I would like to strive for (though I haven't added it as a goal just yet). I look forward to following your journey.

I want to ease into this slowly, but some things I have been doing to start this journey is that I have already given up dairy. I order organic fruit and veggie boxes online and work my way through them.

My friend was visiting me from America so unfortunately, I had to put my journey on hold for a bit. She was visiting this country for the first time which meant a lot of eating out at restaurants and trying local foods. Though showing her around was a bit of a workout. It wasn't as rigorous as I would have liked. Now she is back home and I am back to my new regular routines: (1) trying to do yoga at least a few times a week/ at best every day (2) eating home cooked meals (with plenty of veggies) and fruit for my sweet tooth. I even went to the Farmer's market today and loaded up on goodies. (the good kind of goodies) (3) filing out my food and exercise log. I am not giving up, though the going may be slow.

Bought a personal food and exercise log 2 days ago. I have been recording what I eat and my exercise routines. I have also done yoga 2 days in row.

You can type any date in plain English like in 3 weeks or next month.
You can also type in recurring due date like every day, every week and every month.
