I need to refocus on this goal....to help identify and shift out of some bad habits that hold me back.

Single negative behaviors/habits- being lazy in bed, neglecting my chores, not eating well, neglecting my finances

Positive habits- making my bed, staying up on chores, cooking, eating well and regularly, scheduling trips, scheduling time with friends, getting involved with groups.....find things that bring me pleasure- eating chocolate, drinking wine, etc and do them!

    To do:
    Initiate making bed habit
    Initiate chores habit
    Initiate eating habits
    Grocery list to support habits
Meal plan list to support habits
Brainstorm list of trips I'd like to take
Schedule trips on calendar and make reservations
Brainstorm list of events to do
    Schedule events on calendar
    Invite people over
Sign up for exercise venue or other activity
Pay my bills and focus on financial goals
List of things that bring me pleasure and incorporate into my habits

So let's use relationship as an example: what is the difference between being single and being in a relationship or married? How does it feel? How do you act? What do you do/behaviors? I've been in all 3. It seems when we constantly live from a state of lack, we take much for granted.

    Reflections:

    Single
Negative- lonely, "I'm alone", self-neglect, destructive behaviors, isolation, needy, neglectful, bored, rejected, waiting, wanting, wallowing, self-pity, depressed

Positive- goal setting, achieving, creating, traveling, moving, active, self love, interesting, learning, planning, social, self care, celebrating, more time for activities, networking, giving, thankful, happy

    Relationship or Married
Negative- no time, no money, isolated, wanting, wallowing, jealous, lack of trust, neglectful, bored, tired, depressed, comparing, needy

Positive- supported, loved, nourished, active, learning, social, celebrating, thankful, trusting, giving, wanted, happy, partnership

Please brainstorm your additions to both positive and negative!!

The goal is to identify those traits, then to examine where we are at and start transforming those beliefs....

Rather than living in lack, this goal states "Live as if I already have it." It involves embracing behaviors related to my goals and the person I am growing to be in full abundance. For example, if I am seeking a relationship, I should be living as if I already have one, content in what I have. What does that look like? I will reflect on these things later.

@cia007 I have a green drink recipe from this health institute here on the East Coast, called Hippocrates. It's fantastic. Had this every day for about two years or so. 1/2 lb sunflower sprouts + 1/2 lb pea shoot sprouts + 2 stalks celery + 1-2 cucumbers (and a little fresh ginger if you like the extra kick). Strained well. You feel like a million dollars after drinking this stuff.

This goal is in keeping with some principles from "FlyLady." I have used her cleaning and organization methods over the years, not 100%, but would like to keep aiming for some of the habits that have been positive when implemented. One of those is shining and clearing my sink daily, others are things such as making my bed, and establishing cleaning maintenance routines

Something I realized today....even though I've "thought" I had good self love, something is still not in balance....something is holding me back from truly celebrating me for who I am.

Had a vision/meditation of a beautiful rose growing in a garden. Very fragrant. My intuition said this represents my self love. When I asked how can I change this- my answer came to pick the rose, to which I felt great anxiety.

I think it represents me keeping myself to myself and not sharing me and all my gifts with others. Somehow picking the rose felt unsafe. Yet that is the way to share with others. In the garden it is one of many, in a vase it is a centerpiece.

So...expanding what self love means in this context ...I must ponder.....

Meditation on who was I, who am I, who am I becoming

    Who was I

In the past, I was a child prodigy, playing piano at age 4, composing music and winning awards. I was a gifted child, advanced in reading and academics above my grade level, talented at art and athletics, and a straight A student often winning "Student of the Month." I was an over achiever. I never really saw myself as beautiful, but rather, whole, and a bit of a tom-boy with a romantic passion for all things Parisian. I could act, I could write, I learned multiple instruments. I was a people pleaser. I was calm, cool and collected, fierce and caring, creative and funny.

At some point I started to realize I was doing many of these things for the glory of other people, and not myself....they did not bring be joy as they were being orchestrated. I felt a great deal of pressure and I started to rebel. As I entered middle school, I felt only the "dumb girls" actually succeeded socially, and so I began to dumb myself down, to dim my light, to stop living as fearlessly as I had. I realized people's jealousy. I never attached that to my appearance, although understanding what I know now, I believe it was most certainly attached to my appearance at the time. I was also the child of an alcoholic parent, which led to isolation from friends.

I was generous, volunteering my time to help feed children of migrant workers in poverty (the hidden poor), to teach English as a Second language, to volunteer at an Adult Day Care center, to volunteer with youth at church, to volunteer in helping depressed persons get their clutter cleared....

I entered college and although I dated did not date enough or seriously to really obtain any good experience. I ended up marrying the first guy I was serious with- a big mistake later. My habit of people pleasing had made me the perfect prey for a toxic relationship, where I would be further dimmed down in my personal life, the only exception being my career path, where I was able to thrive.

Negative traits from then: dimmed down, people pleaser, isolated, ruminating, insecurity, lack of self-love, lack of knowing what brings me joy, hidden, putting people on pedestals, feeling less-than, afraid to make my own decisions, paralyzed in action, neglecting self, not eating well

Positive traits from then: resilient, positive, successful, caring, talented, fearless, fierce, creative, funny, achieving, beautiful, athletic, smart, generous

After more meditation on this goal, I believe I need to expand outside my comfort zone more to embrace my diamond self..... areas that I could focus on changing up:

    1. Travel more, and get out of the house more!! (Calendar, savings)

    2. Be more social (go back to Church? Toastmasters? Take a class? Social outings? Volunteer? Exercise class?)

    3. Get out of bed...stop planning and start doing. I need to set a limit on my planning and reading time....I could do this all day! Must take action!

    4. Be more bold in my choices- painting the walls in my house, remodeling, landscaping, going places. Being I was with a very controlling person in the past I shut down the realization I have any choices at all, and have gotten in the habit of maintaining the status quo.

    5. Have more fun. Really focus on what brings me joy, pleasure, happiness...what energizes me versus what energizes everyone else around me. I need to really identify these things then do them! Find my passion in my personal life outside of work.

Been doing some of this- here is a brainstorm....

Appearance- put together, nails polished, French inspired wardrobe, simplicity, hair simple but looks good, relaxed, happy, carefree, radiant, shining, high energy, expansive, open, creative, passionate, adventurous, financially Self-sufficient, generous, caring, warm, funny, fun.

    Then breaking it down....a sample....

Relaxed- find ways to make life easier- crock pot cooking, meal pre-prep, online shopping, massages, stretching, exercise outlet, breathing, sleep on time

Generous- random acts of kindness, give more gifts, tithe- give to charity, volunteer

Creative- draw, write, paint, creative hour, decorate my home, hygge

    Humor- jokes, standup? Storytelling mastery

Adventures- plan trips and outings, museums, hikes, concerts, fun runs

@cia007 Damn, that's some morning routine you've got! Dry brushing is so amazing for your lymphatic system. I was doing that myself for many months using a washcloth in the shower. Formerly I used a skin brush, but this lymphatic masseuse I went to advised against it because of the dead skin cells that collect / harder to keep clean.

Morning routine components I want to incorporate.....

So normally I have between an hour and an hour and a half before other duties in the morning. It takes me about 45 min on average to get ready (much less if I don't have to dry my very thick hair).

    Visualize
    Journal
    Meditation
Drink water (put on night stand before bed)
    Gratitude practice
    Review goals
    Dry brush (before showering)
    Shower
    Cold shower (end of shower)
    Get dressed/ready
Affirmations (attach one to each action/trigger- getting dressed? I.e. Say to myself "Trust the Process" every time I put on my shoes, affirmation for brushing teeth, etc. )
Grab lunch out of fridge (prepacked)
    Chai
    Grab breakfast (prepacked)
    Grab vitamins

    That's a start!!

I think I have found a potential inroad/start to this goal via my aunt and a new friend from Africa who are staying with me this weekend. It involves a few different causes singly focused. Quite excited for possibilities and connections coast to coast and internationally. I need to have a big brainstorming session and put together an action plan, and tie this into my 100 day plan priorities such as getting out of debt and writing my book. Baby steps but realizing I need to get gutsy and put some things into motion, and aim high!

We talked about trusting the path for the greater good...God/the Higher Power/Universe/Greater Good has a plan for her and for some reason she is being called back there for now, and to trust that there is some good reason for it (safety, opportunity, lessons, to bless someone else, etc.). I'm expanding in my possibilities and what's been shown to me in the last week is so mind blowing it just turned my entire vision of what is possible and what my future could look like completely upside down in good ways, and in ways I could never dream of! Trusting the process brings surprises beyond what our limited minds can even fathom! I will ride the wave and see where this one goes!

@garrin it was- I'm still feeling the benefits this morning, perhaps from the magnesium?? The tea I had was one of the Yogi blends...sweet tangerine Energy....good taste and blend, although I love the loose leaf teas too!

@cia007 Glad you enjoyed your epsom salt bath! Re: tea, I love how fresh the loose leaf teas are. Something about tea in a bag, I don't know...guess that makes me a tea snob now. Ha! I don't know how much time passes between packaging the tea and the tea being sold off a store shelf. I just wonder how that impacts the flavor when comparing with the loose leaf variety.

Spire still going strong, although I'm still wondering what the threshold is for the tense Alert. It registered 12 minutes of tension today- not bad but I noticed in 2-3 minute bursts. I generally felt productively stressed but seems it only picked up the most tense of moments and a few I was unaware of. Must investigate.

    Day 4 of Spire

So Friday I had 17 minutes of tension recorded....higher than Thursday but much lower than the first two days, which were close to an hour of tension each day!! That being said, I think it is picking up the worst of the tension, as I felt anxiety at other times but breathed through it and it was not recorded as tension....

So...I think this is only part of the equation but my breathing habits have gotten noticeably better!!

So next thing to add to my regiment:

    1. Magnesium supplements

    2. Vit B complex supplements

    3. Exercise

    4. Massage

    5. Stretching

Pausing to reflect on progress so far:

January- went to the Washington State Governor's Inaugural Ball with a date. Briefly had a boyfriend, who helped with my Dad's funeral video. Hosted my Aunt at my house for several days, made it through Dad's funeral. Got mom's finances in order. Lessons learned: I'm stronger than I think I am

February- had an awesome "girls weekend" with friends at a tree house north of Seattle. Got mom hooked up with a financial planner. Saw movies with friends and did several lunch/dinners out with friends. Secured tickets to Venice. Dumped boyfriend. Took class with Jennifer Grace "Creative Action Journey." Lessons learned: Enjoyed movies, procrastination is bad, I can make my own independent decisions, girlfriends matter and if a guy can't handle that he's out!

March- got passports secured, took class "Directing Your Destiny" with Jennifer Grace related to cultivating your creative path and goal setting. Lessions learned: cultivate a routine for creativity, EFT tapping works, visualization works, culling the "itty bitty shitty committee" in my head

April- attended an 80s party with friends, attended "Activate Energy" class, went to a few Trivia Nights at a coffee shop with friends, attended Spring Arts Walk with friends and an artist's exhibition, and the Procession of the Species Parade. Lessons learned: I need people, I need to get comfortable with self, I need to expand my creativity, Gratitude, my chakras are blocked, it's a good sign when things appear to be getting worse they might be rearranging things for something better

May- went on a few dates with a nice fellow who was hurting...a positive experience but no spark. Was glad to be able to help fill in some loneliness for someone going through a rough patch, I wish him the best. Continued Trivia nights, did several nature walks with friends. Lessons learned: everything will come to you at the perfect time

June- my friend from California came to visit, and I went to Italy!! Lessons learned: be ok with where you are, focus on the present moment, do I see how amazing I am?, just do it

July- Italy, lots of happy hours with friends, had my wine shipment delivered, H.S. Class Reunion, movies, had a random relative visit, helped purge Grandmas house to prepare for the Estate sale, attended a Dita Von Teese show with a friend in Seattle, went on a few dates. Lesson learned: expanded world view thanks to Italy trip

August- more dates, went on a 10 mile bike ride and trip to the Ocean, lunches and dinners with friends, got my son set up for school activities successfully, significant progress at work, got some court stuff moving. Lessons learned: look forward to things that excite you, cherish yourself, embody the emotions you want to receive, take more risks and expand more of what you truly enjoy doing

@cia007 I love Dita. She's a class act. I agree with you...I think many are a bit uptight about the fetish scene, performances etc. To me it's like Halloween except throughout the year. Haha. A number of years ago I was really into reading Thomas Moore. He wrote a book called Care of the Soul. And he wrote about the side of the soul that we as a society often want to stuff away. I think it's healthy to embrace it all. That's what makes us human at the end of the day.

@garrin oh wow on the Thomas Moore stuff!! Sounds exactly where my beliefs are now...I will have to give that one a read. It makes so much sense to me, the concept of loss of soul amidst all the other psychological clutter...seems that's all I see today and is my theory on why the religions appear to fall short. I'd say it is human kind that falls short! Kind of the same idea/concept your bottle cap quote was aiming at too. Humans twist meaning to suit their own psychological clutter including right and wrong. If we were all other critters it would be so much more simple!

    Working on 2017!

2016 was horrible. Multiple deaths and illnesses in the family, a painful breakup, health crisis and kiddo with broken leg all made for a yucky second half of the year.

What have I done to make this year different?

Booked that trip to Venice...you know what I'm talking about...(cue James Bond theme music)

Worked on keeping up my yard to the best of my ability

Re-entered the dating scene, although currently am as free as a bird

Used a meal/recipe delivery service to learn some new cooking techniques

Used StitchFix clothing service and a personal stylist- saves me time, money and I look good too!

Took a few online classes around self-improvement

What do I still need to do??

Expand!! This is where I look at acting into a new way of thinking to create new neural pathways that will help me become more of what I desire to be....

This involves identifying my ideal self, figuring out what she would do differently from today, identify the gap between the now and the future and then take steps to shift to the future. The calendar is my vehicle to make it happen!!

This is a big goal with many ways it can be met. A few thoughts..... some things I love and have some skill for: acting and public speaking. I had the thought today to consider the following: get into improv, take a standup comedy class and /or find a Toastmasters again and have my son come with me so he can learn too.... I feel I need to develop my verbal quick thinking confidence and lighten things up to reclaim my right brain. I felt happiest and most free when I am doing something to move (dance or martial arts), create (drawing, writing) and verbally expressing (acting, impromptu speeches). I should follow that instinct

Thinking about the role of attachment styles today: Anxious, Avoidant and Normal. Anxious and Avoidant always get together and have a toxic attraction. Avoidant and Avoidant seldom get together and Anxious and Anxious are like glue and very reassuring of each other.

I'm pretty certain I am Anxious attachment style and me ex boyfriend was Avoidant. It was an interesting dynamic, and probably not healthy. Makes me evaluate who I want in my life more closely.

What is love? This is a question I've been pondering lately, and I've come to the conclusion, at least in English speaking cultures, there is a lot of confusion partially due to the linguistic limitations of the language. In English, there is only one word to describe "love." It is used to describe many different types of "love" that other cultures and languages have words for.
The Ancient Greeks, for example, had 6 words for love:

    1. Eros, or sexual passion

    2. Philia, or deep friendship

    3. Ludus, or playful love

    4. Agape, or love for everyone

    5. Pragma, or longstanding love

    6. Philautia, or love of the self

For the purpose of this goal, I wish to focus on #4, Agape, or love for everyone, as I believe this one to be the foundation of the others, along with #6, Philautia, or love of the self.

With exception to narcissists, I believe many Christians and those influenced by Christian culture today misinterpret Philautia, by confusing the nobility of "dying to self" with self-neglect, extreme unworthiness, lack of boundaries, and sometimes denial of joy, pleasure or self-expression.

True and authentic love is solid, pure, expansive and expressive. If you cannot have a degree of healthy Philautia, and realize that you are here on this earth for a reason, and have a right to shine and share your gifts in the fullness of who YOU are as a person and who you were created to be, it is very hard to expand to true Agape.
If we can love ourselves in a healthy way, we can love others, and in turn love attracts love- we get love in return.

@garrin so far I'm not....most leads lead to Seattle which is 1-2 hours away from me depending on traffic and not practical most nights with my work schedule. There's also a challenge finding people close to my age...they are either 10 years older with grand kids or 10 years younger with like 5 kids in tow!!

In this area, many folks also don't leave, so the tight knit groups were formed in high school. If I go an hour NE of here I have a plethora of connections and contacts, but I choose to no longer live directly in the shadow of volcanic Mount Rainier.

Working: creating day in morning, meditation, listening to music, gratitude, goal review, hot baths, youtube, wine, chai, and working in the yard all going well for the most part.

Needing help: I need to write more and be more focused on my daily intentions in the moment, examine my creative hour and eat more chocolate.

    Living Space:

Needing help: Roof maintenance, get oven fixed, garage, order bulbs, drywall, fall decorations, after school snacks and bringing my lunch to work

    Social:

Working: been good with going out to lunch/dinner with friends. Have been too busy for much else and am ok with that for now. I've also tried out a long distance relationship briefly that was great while it lasted but 2 hours away with kiddos is rough. No regrets, had a fun weekend but mutually it's just not enough right now to invest. Maybe he will reappear in the future, who knows but for now it's where I need to be.

Needing help: volunteering or joining a social activity. Still haven't pursued this yet.

    Health:

Working: going running with my kiddo, walks on breaks at work, eating microgreens

Not working: I need to get to the doctor ASAP, rapid odd changes that could point to something really not good/serious but don't want to use the "C" word. Have not been doing well in the area of taking care of me lately.

I need a goal based financial plan. Putting this reminder here. It struck me that I lose child support in a few years. I need to make sure I'm debt free enough to shift my income and get those passive streams of income flowing.

Unclaimed $: find location of office, go visit office, by when

Refi: go to Credit Union. When? This week

    Budget: create reoccurring date schedule

Emergency fund: Transfer $, how much, by tomorrow, schedule frequency

Quit Claim Deed: Phone call, find location of office, schedule day to visit

Mower $: transfer $ to savings for this

    1. For the miracle!! My son informed me the night before he needed lunch money for his field trip. Being late and that I had no cash on me, I told him I would get up early and we could grab coffee with cash back on the way to school.....

Morning comes and he informs me his homework assignment isn't quite done (he had been up since 5:30am) and that he'd have to skip lunch. So....being 20 min away from any store, I said a quick prayer asking for a miracle and immediately the first coat pocket I checked...I pulled out $15 in cash!!! Considering I don't usually carry cash, a miracle!! My son's eyes were very big!

    1. For the sale at Cost Plus World Market....I bought a big pasta bowl!

    2. For having the right words to say in a politically charged meeting today, impromptu.

    3. For getting to watch my son's football game band marching performance tonight!

    4. For more amazingly unusual, successful and talented people I continue to meet on my life journey!

Found a cool structure for meditation that encompasses all angles I've desired to spend time on:

    1. Love/Compassion and energy expansion

    2. Gratitude
      Three things in life
      Three things in career
      Three things about me/self love

    3. Forgiveness

    4. Vision- in 3 years doubled

    5. Control- vision for day

    6. Blessing- anchor into higher power/God

All in 15 min in the morning!

Last weekend while at the ocean I rode my bike 10 miles.

Went on at least 3 walks with co-workers this week around town.

Today I ran for the first time in a very very long time and was able to run 1.5 miles nonstop around the lake with my son! I could have probably made it to 2, but being I hadn't done it in awhile considered my one loop goal done and figured I better hydrate and stretch!! We will see how sore I am tomorrow!

    2. Light Candles. Daily. This one will take work but I set a habit reminder. I live in earthquake land so this makes me a bit nervous but I think I will try tea lights.

    3. Good lighting....I made a note on my to do list to purchase a few more lamps for the home

So happy- I was badly needing a trip to the grocery store last night but managed to throw together an awesome meal with what I had! Here's what I did!

    GF pasta
    Stir fry meat- beef
    Tuscan spice infused olive oil
    Garlic
    Salt and pepper
Extra virgin olive oil 3/4 c
    Balsamic vinegar 1/2 c
    Dijon mustard 2 TBSP
    1/2 tsp salt
    1/2 tsp pepper
    1/2 tsp basil
    1/2 tsp parsley
    Cherry tomatoes or roasted peppers

Cooked meat and garlic with Tuscan spice infused olive oil, salt and pepper

    Cooked GF pasta 10 min

Mix rest of ingredients as a dressing and whisk together.

Toss it all together and coat with dressing.

My son said it was amazing. A win!!

She and I have similar pasts and goals, so it was exciting to compare notes and challenge each other on our goals. Continuous growth, empowering friendships, expansion of potential and freedom to be one's self! Such a rich and blessed discussion. At 7am yesterday friend randomly invited me to drive down to Portland to attend Rose City Comic Con...I hesitated but on a whim decided to go. Called my brother who was also an hour away and who loves collecting things and invited him to come. Glad I did because I needed a navigator!

Left my house about 9 and got down there about noon due to traffic- the fire in the Columbia River Gorge still has 40 miles of interstate shut down. Found parking. Saw lots of cool costumes including a few dudes ONLY wearing their underwear- not sure who they were supposed to be but pretty sure they came as themselves! Got to meet Cisco from "The Flash" TV series. Met my friend there briefly (she had kids in tow- but one of the kids started puking so I went it alone). Felt great going solo for a bit. Met back up with my brother and grabbed dinner. Got back around 9:30pm!

Definitely out of my comfort zone...can't say I enjoyed the crowds or lines or over stimulation of the event but now I know what my son has been trying to talk me into and know what to expect if I take him.

I need to break out of my comfort zone more often to change up my daily patterns and live life more fully- especially in the evenings and on the weekends.

I took a step a few months ago by traveling to Italy, but I realize I need to do more back at home. It's too easy to go to work and come home day in and day out. I need to visit more places, exercise more, try new projects rather than just falling into the easy and familiar.

Someone asked me what I like to do for fun....I actually had to stop and think- a lot of the things I enjoyed were things I did when my dad was still alive. Haven't done many of them since he's been gone. I like lots of things, but it's time to really fly independently on my own.

@Andia I used to do fly fishing, kayaking, x-c skiing, canoeing, biking, camping and hiking with my dad. Some of these things are harder to do now that he's gone (canoe is heavy, need a better car to get to mountains/tow stuff/drive in snow/bike and ski racks). Haven't sorted out things I'm interested in that I've not tried yet besides maybe travel.
