    I've been taking herbs that seem to have been helping! In particular Rhodiola in capsule form seems to be working very well. I've also been following the advice of an author who got out of his funk by intensely loving himself everyday... One of his methods was to repeat the mantra "I love myself" habitually, as often as possible, and every time his mind would veer toward the negative. "I love myself" is easy to remember and so far seems to successfully distract me from my previous habit of dealing with despair or relationship problems via self neglect or alcohol. I repeat the phrase silently in my mind at every moment I remember to, while brushing my teeth, while taking a shower, while falling asleep, while waking up, while crying, while waiting, etc. It works every time. And I haven't stopped doing it even though I've been feeling better. I'm going to keep doing it regardless of how I'm feeling. I think listing 3 things that make me happy every day, and walking more have been helping too. Highly recommend all of these tricks for anyone suffering with the blues.

    I walked many miles this week and was resilient in the face of physical and emotional obstacles. I've also managed to avoid substances (depressants) for a few weeks now and can feel my brain function improving.

    Despite some negativity that was hurled my way last night I fell asleep easily and had pleasant and interesting dreams. I dreamed I was in my childhood bedroom and decided to move my bed into a small corner so I'd have more room for other things. [SYMBOLISM.] Then my old therapist walked in and I noticed she had dyed her hair the same color as me. She hugged me and acted more like a friend than a therapist. She made casual genuine conversation and didn't seem to care about charging me for it and didn't seem in a hurry to leave. Later in the dream I was singing more powerfully than usual, and harmonizing beautifully and really enjoying it.

    I'm still irritable in certain regards but I'm trying to practice removing those triggers and I don't feel defeated. I'm starting to feel a bit more in charge of my life. It's a work in progress, and I do seem to be making steps in the right direction.

    I've been hiding my skinny legs under double layered socks and tights or pants my whole life but this month I said fuck it and flaunted these lil chicken legs. 😃 It helps that I have supportive people around who tell me I'm sexy whenever I have insecure moments. Very grateful for these people who boost my confidence and let me be me. <3
