Ok, so had some disturbing news and have had to change the theme of my party. I dont want this person to think I copied her idea, even though mine has probably been in plan for much longer, but oh well, now we are having an "Alice in Wonderland" theme! Bigger and better!!

So up until today I was going to have a Hippie themed party and make every dress in 60's style, but then I saw an amazing table center piece today which I could recreate and so I am thinking of changing the theme of this party to "Glamour" so black and silver and dressy! Hmmmm, so many options! My last big party for myself was "Arabian Nights" for my 40th, we had a belly dancer with a chandelier on her head!!!

All my life I have wanted to be 50! I can't say where the fascination came from but its like my magical number. This year is the year! So I am throwing myself the biggest most glittering party I have ever attempted. And boy have I ever thrown a few parties over the years, the more Outrageous theme the better. people get nervous when they get an invite from me and ask "what is she making us wear this time?"

Here are a seven ways to maintain motivation to simplify your life and possibly inspire people around you to simplify too.

    1. Bring it to life.

Reading and sharing books and blog posts is a great way to stay inspired as you pay down debt, declutter, and begin to live a simpler life. Bringing what you read to life is an even bigger dose of inspiration.

I found this to be very true through last month's Minimalist challenge

Discardia reminds us to think about what could we be doing or feeling if all this stuff wasn’t in the way. It also reminds us to spend some time shifting our lives toward more of what makes us thrive. Each of us has a different definition of what that exciting, fulfilling, less-stressed life consists of, but the path we take to make it real is one we can travel together. Our first step is to remind each other to think about what we want and compare that to what fills our lives now.

After doing the month of Minimalist challenge and enjoying that I have decided that one the first of each month I will practise discardia.. get rid of stuff that no longer serves me!
I will document my journey here, to keep myself accountable.
I will shed my junk and emerge like a new butterfly or in French "C'est Nouvelle Papillon"

I dont really know why, it just seems "grown up" to me, and then of course there's that meme saying "If you havent grown up by 50, you don't have to!"
My brother on the other hand was terrifid of 50, I remember him telling me "he thought he'd be dead by 50" thankfully he is NOT.

33 Things to Eliminate From Your Closet

    Written by project333

    33eliminate

If you aren’t ready to dress with only 33 items. Why not eliminate 33 items from your closet? Consider it the reverse Project 333.

-Anything with shoulder pads, even if they are making a comeback.
-Your high school jeans that haven’t buttoned since high school.
-That formal outfit you bought for one occasion.
    -Your ex-anyone’s anything.
    -Christmas sweaters.
-Things that are ripped or have holes that aren’t supposed to be there.
-Pieces you can see through unintentionally.
-Those super cute shoes that you can’t walk in.
-Sentimental items that make you sad.
The warm coat you don’t wear. Someone needs it more than you.
-Sentimental items that don’t fit. Take a picture.
-Clothes you are saving for your children.
-Pieces that need to go to the tailor that never get to the tailor.
-A bridesmaid’s dress they said you could wear again, and you know you won’t.
-Hats you don’t wear even though everyone says you look good in hats.
    -Ill-fitting bras. Feature your features.
    -Purses. You only need one.
-Clothes that don’t belong to you. Give them back.
-Anything with a weird smell that won’t wash out.
-Clothing or shoes that leave a mark or blister.
-Scarves that don’t go with anything you currently own.
-Clothes that don’t allow your underwear to be under.
-Anything you have to squeeze in to.
-Clothes you bought on vacation that you won’t wear where you live.
-Pants that are shorter than they are supposed to be.
-Shirts that are longer than they are supposed to be.
-Sequins and sparkles if you prefer simple and subtle.
-Anything with a stain that won’t come out.
-Guilt items. If you spent too much for it, dump the guilt. You’ll keep paying for it in time and attention if you don’t let it go now.
-Multiples. Just because the blazer looked good in cream doesn’t mean you need it in every color. One is enough.
-The top or bottom of a suit. They aren’t sold separately for a reason.
    -Clothes you can pet.
-Yoga pants that don’t go to yoga.

So Madam three decides to be a hairdresser, "Grandma l'll brush your hair come here!" So she's smashing my hair with her brush and tells me "You have lots of knots, be brave Grandma l'll get it!" So l'm on the kitchen floor and l ask "Will you be a hairdresser and go to special hairdressing school?" She says "I'll be a hairdresser and do your hair everyday!" I haven't had an offer that good in a long time.
    #futurehairdresser

This conversation just confirms that how we speak to them becomes their inner voice! I always tell her "Be brave while l get this knot out!" Being a Grandma is such a joy! I am so blessed that l get to be so hands on with three of the four!

Monday night trying to occupy a tired 3yr old l gave up cooking dinner and instead sat down with an old magazine and a pen. We took turns to circle the letters in her name. Then she asked me to write her name. As l wrote l sounded out her letters and then left her there while l went to the other side of the bench to start dinner and very quietly l hear her... S C A R L E T T l snuck a look over my shoulder to see her pointing at each letter as she spelt. When her Mum got home from work she did it again to show Mum! The next day she told her Aunty "I can spell my name" without her piece of paper with the written letters she spelt "SCARLETT"
I take full credit for this and l am so impressed! Her name is bigger than she is and its not an easy name to spell when you are just three!
So the moral to this story is as the words on the poem by Ruth Hulbut Hamilton go... " The dust and the conwebs can wait till tomorrow children grow up as l've learned to my sorrow, so quieten down cobwebs and dust go to sleep l rocking my Baby and babies don't keep!"

Here is the full poem- when all five children lived at home l had this printed in my fridge for all to read!!

    Song for a Fifth Child
    by Ruth Hulburt Hamilton

Mother, oh Mother, come shake out your cloth,
Empty the dustpan, poison the moth,
Hang out the washing and butter the bread,
Sew on a button and make up a bed.
Where is the mother whose house is so shocking?
She’s up in the nursery, blissfully rocking.
Oh, I’ve grown shiftless as Little Boy Blue
    (Lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo).
Dishes are waiting and bills are past due
    (Pat-a-cake, darling, and peek, peekaboo).
The shopping’s not done and there’s nothing for stew
And out in the yard there’s a hullabaloo
But I’m playing Kanga and this is my Roo.
Look! Aren’t her eyes the most wonderful hue?
    (Lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo).

The cleaning and scrubbing will wait till tomorrow,
For children grow up, as I’ve learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down, cobwebs. Dust go to sleep.
I’m rocking my baby and babies don’t keep.

    Hey Fellow Dinner Party goalies...

How are you defining a "dinner party"?

Here's one of the Google results l got...
    dinner party
    noun
a social occasion at which guests eat dinner together.

    Then there was this one.....

    dinner party
    noun /ˈdɪn.ə ˌpɑː.ti
    US /ˈdɪn.ɚ ˌpɑːr.t̬i/

a formal evening meal to which a small number of people are invited.

Ok... so my question is how formal or informal are you going?
Does there need to be an occasion?
If l were to go formal no one would come.... would love to hear everyone's ideas!

@Queen Purrs Like A Kitten You can use futureme.org. It's a website that allows you to send an e-mail to yourself, but you will receive it months or years in the future (You designate the length of time)!

The website is legitimate. I received an e-mail from myself written about 7 years ago. (Apparently, my past self would be slightly disappointed from what I was supposed to accomplish!) :3

We went to a town called Bendigo, famous for the gold rush era, lots of history and old buildings, we did an awesome walk and took gazillions of photos and ate junk food, drank some wine and ciders, watched chick flicks, swam in the pool, lazed in the spa and talked non stop. Great first "Girls weekend" plus we did q tour of the Scared Heart Cathedral, Ive been dying to look inside that church!
We plan to do it again in a few months, but for now, I am saying this task is complete!

Girls weekend is this coming weekend 17-19th March in Bendigo, about 1.5hours from home. We've booked a cabin in a caravan park, we dont have expensive tastes, we are looking forward to walking around the botanical gardens and window shopping and eating junk food and watching chick flicks! Plus there's a pool too!

    Part four-
When was the last time you marched into the dark with only the soft glow of an idea you strongly believed in?
When l decided to shave all my hair off. Then l did it again a year later this time to raise money for the Luekemia foundation.

If you knew that everyone you know was going to die tomorrow, who would you visit today?
No one l am away camping so just my husband and myself.

Would you be willing to reduce your life expectancy by 10 years to become extremely attractive or famous?
No!! Because looks fade and the fame fades but l will still be me here in my world with my morals and beliefs.

What is the difference between being alive and truly living?
Being alive is just being, trudging along each day the same, truly living is when you step out of your comfort zone and try new things, see new places!

When is it time to stop calculating risk and rewards, and just go ahead and do what you know is right?
Oh thats hard l think it varies in different people.

If we learn from our mistakes, why are we always so afraid to make a mistake?
Thats a good one! No one likes to admit they screwed up.

What would you do differently if you knew nobody would judge you?
I would have stayed in America!

When was the last time you noticed the sound of your own breathing?
When lm trykng to calm myself down and convince myself to breath deeply and slowly, or when l am angry... last week!

What do you love? Have any of your recent actions openly expressed this love?
Oh l love!! My family lbtell them iften. My Grandbabies, always kissing and hugging and dancing and singing and reading with them.

In 5 years from now, will you remember what you did yesterday? What about the day before that? Or the day before that?
Yes!! We were away camping at the Salt Flat Lake Gairdner lve got heaps of photos snd some salt with me as well!! My husbabd ticked off a thing from his bucket list! Thats huge!

Decisions are being made right now. The question is: Are you making them for yourself, or are you letting others make them for you? I maje most of my own decisions some in conjunction with my husband and some fewer in conjunction with my family.

    Part three...
If you had to move to a state or country besides the one you currently live in, where would you move and why?
Next time l move it'll be to a warmer winter zone, tired of cold winters!

Do you push the elevator button more than once? Do you really believe it makes the elevator faster?
No once only same with traffic lights.

Would you rather be a worried genius or a joyful simpleton?
    A joyful simpleton

    Why are you, you?
Because l am created by the Lord he jnitted me together in my Mothers womb he knows the pattern and the reason.

Have you been the kind of friend you want as a friend?
I want to say Yes! I hope so. I must be doing sonething right my bestie and l are celebrating 30 years this year!

Which is worse, when a good friend moves away, or losing touch with a good friend who lives right near you?
Loosing touch with a good frirnd close by.

What are you most grateful for?
    My health.

Would you rather lose all of your old memories, or never be able to make new ones?
Loose the old ones sone are really bad!

Is is possible to know the truth without challenging it first?
    Hmmm dunno

Has your greatest fear ever come true?
My greatest fear is the dentist.

Do you remember that time 5 years ago when you were extremely upset? Does it really matter now?
No it doesnt and that is what a good friend taught me... pick your fights!

What is your happiest childhood memory? What makes it so special?
Spending time with my Dad he taught me to love books!

At what time in your recent past have you felt most passionate and alive?
Oh recently learning to do bible art journaling, it put the hood book on a whole new light for me!

    If not now, then when?
    When the kids are grown!

If you haven’t achieved it yet, what do you have to lose?
Nothing but the fear of never having tried!

Have you ever been with someone, said nothing, and walked away feeling like you just had the best conversation ever?
Yes!! Its so cool when that happens!

Why do religions that support love cause so many wars?
Its not the religions its the people who wrongly follow the religions they listen to the words of man twisted words, taken sometimes wrongly from the bible. NOT the words of God, Jesus, Jehovah, Allah, Wankan Tanka, whatever name you use for the creator!

Is it possible to know, without a doubt, what is good and what is evil?
OH gee!! Wow. This couldvturn into a long night!

If you just won a million dollars, would you quit your job?
My job is Mother and Grandma so nope wouldnt quit my job BUT it would get a whole lot more fun!!

Would you rather have less work to do, or more work you actually enjoy doing?
    Less work more play!

Do you feel like you’ve lived this day a hundred times before?
Not thus exact day but some days yes indeed!!

    Part two....
Are you more worried about doing things right, or doing the right things?
I would rather be doing the right things, even if they are not done right the first time.

You’re having lunch with three people you respect and admire. They all start criticizing a close friend of yours, not knowing she is your friend. The criticism is distasteful and unjustified. What do you do?
I don't participate in this conversation and gently remind them that gossiping is a sin and none of us are perfect.

If you could offer a newborn child only one piece of advice, what would it be?
Don't listen to other peoples opinions about you, its just that THIER opinions and its of no concern to you.

Would you break the law to save a loved one?
Nope.. I'd try and help them some other way.

Have you ever seen insanity where you later saw creativity?
    I dont think so.

What’s something you know you do differently than most people?
    Mother my children.

How come the things that make you happy don’t make everyone happy?
Because each of us has our own path to follow and we are all on different journies at different time. If we were all on the same journey how boring would that be.

What one thing have you not done that you really want to do? What’s holding you back?
Travel overseas more and right now my family are holding me back, Im busy raising Children and Grandchildren.

Are you holding onto something you need to let go of?
Yes! excess weight, guilty feelings that I don't deserve and some deep down resentment.

    Part one....
How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you are?
    25
Which is worse, failing or never trying?
    Never trying
If life is so short, why do we do so many things we don’t like and like so many things we don’t do?
Because we "think" we have to follow other peoples perception of whats "right" for us to do like for example... go to school, get a job, get married, have a family... what if you didn't do those things?!
When it’s all said and done, will you have said more than you’ve done?
Nope, I have a tendancy to bite my tongue and just get shit done.
What is the one thing you’d most like to change about the world?
The state of unease, wars and the results of those things, displacement, hunger, disease.
If happiness was the national currency, what kind of work would make you rich?
    Doing art and crocheting
Are you doing what you believe in, or are you settling for what you are doing?
I am doing what I believe in because I believe that I am a Grandmother for a purpose and helping raise small people is important.
If the average human life span was 40 years, how would you live your life differently?
I would not be sucked into what other peoples opinions of me are.
To what degree have you actually controlled the course your life has taken?
Not a great degree, I went with what others thought I "should do"

I already do this on several levels.
1- Every day journal, where I clear my mind, make lists, tick lists off and record memories, songs, books, quotes etc.
2- Travel journal, this one is an older one, I am starting a new one for my Bali trip. In there I write where, what, who,I add tickets, add brochures, flowers, leaves, stickers etc
3- Diary/ appointment book, so I add dot points and bits n pieces.
