Went into FAFSA yesterday to find out what other paperwork they need.. finally get that ball rolling now that my Incomplete grade that confused the computers is Completed. Unfortunately, I still have to write a petition for reinstatement, which is annoying, but at least I can deal with it now .

Super good news. I just found out about a special savings account option for persons on SSI, along with a bunch of other exemptions that didn't exist when I was a teenager. This is a huge deal because only being allowed to save $2000 has been extremely limiting when I'm thinking about my child's future , hopes of owning a house someday, or any long-term expense really ..
Leaving this link here for myself

@Andia It is good news. Beau is in a much better financial position than I am, which sometimes is nice and other times as a source of anxiety for me because of the contrast. Makes me more aware of my constraints .. on the other hand, finally having someone to talk to about finances who isn't scraping by has put me in a different growth mindset about possibilities beyond what I'm accustomed to

@wordsncolor ABLE accounts are epic, I have one. I don't have the $2000 SSA limit like you do, but my state says I can only have $2000 in my account if I want home care services etc. An ABLE account doesn't count against the state limit no matter how much is in there. They do have to verify it each year though.

    Goal: 3 savings
1.) for my daughter (in progress)
    2.) for myself
    3.) for emergencies

    To Do List:

I am feeling good about this goal. It doesn't sound like much but I now have about £40 in my savings. I usually spend every penny I have (and then some), so this slow progress is a big change for me. It is crucial for me to save £420 as I need to pay a pet deposit on my house before my Kitten Autumn can come live with us.

On top of saving I have also been paying debt, which ultimately will leave me with more money to save in the future.

TBH I'm not so much into saving money, its more a case of making sure the money I have saved is in the best place to earn the best rate of return. For the next 100 days, I will spend at least 6 mins each day on this goal
