Lol, I'm often at a loss for what to post about. Unless it's an update on one of my goals, I can post it on my blog.

@fredvoorhies is this spam? this seems like spam. potentially illegal spam.

but maybe it's all old classics and stuff that's completely legitimately in public domain. and maybe you're just generously sharing because you are sincerely excited about it. Hard to tell these days.

@aenea Lol well he doesn't have a history of spam. If I share a link to a service I use for saving links for later, that I have nothing to do with, would you consider that spam? A person with spammy-looking goals and entries is definitely a spammer, but someone sharing links to services they don't own, (however questionable they might be,) most likely isn't. Now if he shares the same link over and over, then that's definitely spam.

@hopeslife well we don't know that he doesn't own or have an interest in said link. But yes he is established here and has no history of spamming, which is why I didn't flag the post.

However, it's surprising how complex some spamming and scamming schemes can be. I've seen some weird digital thievery where you wouldn't think they'd go to so much trouble. I like to be cautious about these things.

It's also always good to include some extra context when linking, to avoid confusion. Heck I feel guilty just mentioning Jeff Bezos or even GR or FB, and will try to obscure and minimize my link as much as possible, and aim to only link if asked for further details. Mentioning and linking are both forms of free advertising, intentional or not. Particularly in a forum like this that's crawling with search bots.

Also if you utilize a questionable service and you want that service to stick around, advertising it may not be the best approach. That said, this service may not be questionable at all; I have not looked at it closely.

My father-in-law passed away on Saturday. He had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer a week before our wedding in March.

He was one of the gentlest, kindest souls I have ever met and he will be missed terribly.

Today, our sermon at church was about not giving up, not quitting, and pressing on and letting God see you through! It was a very affirming sermon, because I've been experimenting with different online training things as of late.

Last week, I undertook the process of changing from the email address I've had for 10 years, to a Lavabit one. So far, the transition is going well. I've had to start using Thunderbird, and until last Thursday, I hadn't used an email client in like 12 years. I'm not finished yet though, still have lots of things to change over!

internet time comes at a premium.

i finally found a few hours with which to sit and think and update. With A out of town now I might have more flexibility, but I'm hoping to spend most of that time actually accomplishing things on my list rather than just writing about my lack of progress, as has seemed to be my habit in June.

@aenea Sometimes just the writing and updating can make us feel somewhat productive when we're not accomplishing as much as we wish we were. July will be a better month. 🙂

@ExplorerSoul age is just a number but physiologically there are certain unavoidable aspects to it that I'm not all that excited about. My biological clock is definitely sounding the alarm too now that we've decided to have a second child. Career and health wise I'm not where I want to be and it's easy for me to get stressed and depressed about it.

My thirties were rough however, so there's something to be said for not only surviving them but also coming out on top with a healthy family who love and support me. Things will be ok. I just have to take heart in what I have.

@aenea I think it's okay to feel these things and then try to let them go (easier said than done. I am actually feeling quite low about where I stand right now in different areas of my life).

I'm glad that you have love and support around you - this can make all the difference. I hope this will be the start of a wonderful new chapter in your life.

@aenea Happy Birthday. I hope you have a great day and celebration.

How old do you feel? And how old do you think?

As one who has been there (and it was a while ago) don't think about it too much, you will have another birthday next year.

        @bob1623 thanks :)

I feel ageless but also tired and haunted. If that makes sense. And I think I could do many things if I just had more time. How do you gage how old you think?

@aenea I think I do understand. I don't know how old I feel. I think I feel younger than I am. I know I think younger because age group peers think old people stuff. Stuff I never think about.

Maybe that;s how you gauge it. How old are the people who think the way you do?

That haunted feeling, I do understand that.

@bob1623 interesting perspective. My closest friends have invariably been younger than me, even in grade school. I have always struggled to identify with my same age peer group, feeling strangely intimidated and out of place. As if everyone knows way more than me and I must just be immature or mentally stunted or something (which I'm 99% certain isn't the case, and most likely just stems from low self esteem issues).

Add to that that I had a child while my peers were still largely focusing on school and my isolation feels complete. Usually when people learn that I'm a mom they're shocked and scandalized and their whole perception of and behavior towards me changes. Not sure if that's an age thing or something else though.

Have you heard much of Band of Horses? I know you're a music aficionado. Haunted has me thinking of their cease to begin album.

@aenea I'm sure having a child young puts you at a disadvantage, especially when you are the only one. But children do have a way of keeping you young. You have to think young and be in shape to keep up with them.

Enjoy your 40th birthday. To me, that is still young. You have a lot of living to do. Do things a 20 or 30 year old does. Or just enjoy doing what you do.

And yes, I do know Band of Horses. they have some excellent music. Cease to Begin is a great album. I'm listening to it now in your honor.

Is there anything I can do make you smile?

@bob1623 just keep on living life to the fullest like you and so many other 43ers always do. Knowing that there are people out there doing that makes me happy.

Maybe take a scenic bike route today around your town. 🙂. And enjoy the ride, wherever it takes you.

@aenea I hope you had a great birthday. And that you have many more.

I did not get out on that bike ride yesterday. But I did get out today. I rode my favorite route to a village about 15 miles from my house. It was the most glorious day to ride too. The sun was out, not a cloud in the sky, warm temps and only a bit of wind. Everything was perfect.

And I thought of you and your birthday celebration. I hope you got to smile some, hopefully a lot. And laugh too.

This ride gave me a big grin on my face the whole way.

      Happy Birthday!!

I think you should feel happy. 40 is a great age to be. When I turned 40, I freaked out. I'd kill to be 40 again.

You can type any date in plain English like in 3 weeks or next month.
You can also type in recurring due date like every day, every week and every month.
