    This morning I meditated for 15 minutes using the app Insight Timer. It makes me so happy to resume my solo meditation practice.

      @garrinevan I can barely get through 3 minutes without my mind going in 20 different directions. Once I get 3 down I will increase to 5. Some mornings I have to start over 2-3 times just to get there, I can't imagine 15 minutes.

        @Andia Believe me I understand. It took me 6 months to get back on the mat! The hardest part is starting I think. Do you do guided or not guided? I think you gain a lot more from the unguided meditations, but sometimes the guided ones are good too.

          @garrinevan right now guided due to this is my first step into it. I tried unguided for a bit and just ended up frustrated with my wandering mind.

            @Andia I attended a Dharma Punx meditation/talk this past week, and the discussion topic was all about the art of 'welcoming' whatever it is you're thinking/feeling with open arms - the good, the bad, the ugly. I found it very helpful to think of it this way. Like if you're interrupted by police sirens, or dogs barking, etc...it's meant to be that way. As opposed to fighting it...

        @ExplorerSoul It's like taking an amazing, hot shower, except for your mind. It allows you to be still, and instills a sense of peace / calm. I think it also teaches you to be more compassionate the more you learn about it and practice.

          @garrinevan Thanks for sharing. I really think we could all use more stillness in our lives, for different reasons, but this isn't easy for many people, also for different reasons. Takes practice. πŸ™‚

            @ExplorerSoul It definitely does. I don't think it's easy for anyone to be honest. If you're human, your mind races and thinks a gajillion different thoughts every hour every day. But that's what makes meditation so beneficial. It's a very welcome break from thinking.

    This new meditation business started up near me, and I'm going to start going there regularly. Other than this, I do Dharma Punx meditation every Wednesday night. Still working on the daily routine though.

    Well I was doing really well with this goal back in January, and using this app Insight Timer really helped, because it tracks your progress. But after January I kind of lost it. Although I've been going to Dharma Punx meditations most Wednesday nights. Excellent group! See if there's one in your city.

    I have started a meditation on focusing which has three stages. Each stage takes a week starting with five minutes and increasing one min each day till 10 mins.
    First stage is to focus to the mind and observe whatever comes in mind like watching a movie. Trying to notice all visions, thoughts, sounds, sensations etc.

    first day 5 minutes done.. I noticed that my mind is so incredibly so busy, jumping from thought to thought, a lot going on there 🙂 its like its not stopping even a second.

    2 nd stage will be sending away whatever comest to the mind. 2 nd week.

    And thrid will be focusing only one thing and keep the focus on that one thing.. 3rd week .

    This will keep me 3 weeks in daily meditation..
