@vanillaheart No one can do this, or ever has. Human DNA contains no bird DNA, therefore no coding to grow any such structure. Human DNA is completely incompatible with any other animal.

Since the last post thread was collapsing, NekoMoon26, I'll address what you said here, but first I want you to honestly answer a few questions:

    1. Why do you feel the need to attempt to insult me using inaccurate terminology?

It is easy to see that I am certainly not an "idiot", for anyone who is using common sense, and you are trying to insult me to provoke an emotional reaction. Which has been shown over and over and over and over again to Not Work. I simply meet such attempts with logic and reasoned debate, as I am doing now.

    1. Why do you think a well-thought out answer, supported by fact, is an "essay" and somehow worthy of derision?

I don't write "essays", I answer people's comments to me in an intelligent, concise, well-thought out, reasoned response. I don't provide unsophisticated answers of only a few words, because I like to make my point as concrete as possible. people constantly attempt to attack me for doing so, and this isn't because they can't read, we all know they can - it's because they are angry that they can provide no reasoned, logical, fact-supported argument to debate me with.

    1. Where did you get the idea that I "let someone die", implying that I did so deliberately?

You've been listening to a lie spread by another user. Every clinical Nurse has, at one time or another, had a patient die. The Doctors, Nurses, anesthesiologists, respiratory techs, etc. that I work with all do their utmost each and every single time to preserve life - but sometimes death happens. People die. That's a fact of life. Every healthcare professional feels such deaths keenly, and we all constantly ask ourselves if we are doing the right thing. Until you are in such a situation you will Never understand the complexity of what it will make you feel.

    1. And lastly, how could you ever possibly think that the attempted insult of "pansy-ass" applies to me?

That's just rich. Given what I have done with my life, becoming a Nurse, hiking the Appalachian Trail, blacksmithing, armoring, fighting in armored combat, heading off for days at a time on solo trips into back country areas like dolly Sods or kayaking dozens of miles down rough rivers, facing down poisonous snakes, bear, even a mountain lion once, etc. among many other things, the insult applies to me about as much as trying to say that Arnold Schwarzenegger is a limp wristed weakling. Lol.

@NekoMoon26 You don't seem to understand that meme, apparently. I am the ONE person on these goals telling you the truth, talking to you like an adult, and not talking down to you or being vulgar to you. I am discussing the issue with you as a rational adult, yet you cannot show me the same respect.

So what you are saying is that you aren't going to answer my questions regarding your inappropriate and irrational treatment of me, and that you will attempt to cop-out of the issues by implying that I "wouldn't understand".

Which is the exact same argument I have heard for years when I debunk claims of "magic" - "Oh, you can't understand it." .... Really? try me. Try to give a logical, rational, fact supported answer to any of my questions. I'll wait.

@nekomoon Nope. I have to acknowledge the fact that you believe you can grow wings, but I am not obligated to respect it. I can laugh at it, point out why it isn't true, and generally rip it to shreds all day long.

The same goes true for religion - I am under no obligation to respect it and can rip it apart and not suffer any consequences. In totalitarian states, or those ruled by an oligarchy, such as ISIL, they can enforce religion with brutal laws and execute dissenters.

Here in the West, in an enlightened society, able to freely use our rationality and critical thinking, if someone claims to be a Kryptonian, or to be a 500 year old Immortal, or an Atlantean, or says they can use "magic", or that they can .... grow wings - then I am free to call them on it everytime. That's called Freedom of Speech.

@frostywoods32 Believe it or not, every time I post the Truth, everyone reading it learns something. Even though the information may not be desired or may run counter to previously held beliefs, you still learn it. You still see it. Later on, you can even look it up and learn even more by fact checking the Science.

I hold enormous respect for the human intellect, for the intelligence that got us out of the caves and onto the Moon, that showed us that walking around with masks full of sweet-smelling flowers didn't ward off the plague and that sanitation was the key to saving lives, that enabled us to stop sending letters by pony and stagecoach and gave us email and instant messaging, that took us from Punch and Judy shows to 3-D movies, and thousands upon thousands of innovations, inventions, technologies, and discoveries in between.

That is why I believe it is a disservice to humanity to allow anyone to deceive themselves or others with these fantasies. For a child, still yet unable to differentiate between fantasy and reality, such fantasies are ok and are part of the process of being a child. But for teenagers and young adults the skills of critical thinking and rational thought should show you better.

@lordbearclaw Honestly, I agree with the last part but you cannot change somebody else's belief even if you tried. Yes, growing wings or something similar in the category you say is impossible to achieve is your opinion and to some (like you) is a fact of life. But here, we can escape reality and explore farther. You're just a disturbance to our exploration. There are certain types of frequencies that people make and publish them on youtube that can heal pain, etc and I've tried it and it actually works. This also goes to fantasy categories, but I think that they're weaker because it's just something that the human body wasn't suppose to create but it also takes a lot of time, not just a few days, weeks, etc. It can take up to months to years. Of course with the more realistic of this, healing pain and such, it doesn't take as long because the human body already knows how to heal.

@frostywoods32 Can I reach into someone's mind and force them to think a certain way? No, and I wouldn't want to. I convince people with the facts and with the steady march of corroborative data that supports my position while they can find zero data to support theirs. Eventually their house of cards falls and they have to accept Reality.

Growing wings is impossible. That's not subjective opinion, that's objective fact. There is a great difference between those two.

You cannot escape Reality. Engaging in thought patterns that deny Reality is to engage in a delusion. Belief does not make Reality change.

"Frequencies" cannot heal pain or injury - however certain relaxing sounds, images, and even smells can cause the brain to release endorphins and adrenaline via a process known as biofeedback. This is very similar to what happens with placebos. These "feel-good" chemicals, among others, dampen pain and promote relaxation, which reduces stress and allows the body's natural healing and immune systems to operate more efficiently, up to a point.

Evolution does not occur in a single organism's lifetime - it occurs to and entire group over many generations, hundreds or thousands or millions of years long sometimes. Individual mutation occurs at birth in most cases, and is still gradual or very close to the standard individual.

@WingedThing We're actually not fae folk. We're avians. Human bird hybrids. Nekos are people with cat ears and a cat tail, but they can also have horns, wolf ears and a wolf tail and I think they can have bunny ears too. "Neko shifter" I believe means somebody can retract their ears into themselves as well as their tail. It's unknown if a neko can shift wings. I'm still learning about this stuff so I'm unsure about a few things.

@WingedThing Sorry, but this is a fantasy only. Humans are genetically incompatible with any other animal species, including birds. This means we cannot breed with them to produce hybrid creatures, nor do humans have bird DNA.

Birds evolved along an entirely different path than humans - they evolved from the dinosaurs and saurial species (which is why birds have scaly talons, and why birds of prey are called raptors, sharing a etymology with velociraptor).

Humans evolved from a mammalian ancestor, and share no DNA with birds.

Nekos do not exist. People who self-identify as these creatures are living in a fantasy. Every human on this planet was born of two human parents, as were their parents, and theirs, and theirs, so on and so forth going back around 2 million years to the early ancestors of modern man. There are no cat, bird, sheep, dog, wolf, ostrich, gecko, cow, horse, or platypus hybrid humans.

The only possible way this could come about is with the gene-splicing efforts of attempts to create animal-human "chimera", which are simple animals genetically engineered to be tissue compatible with humans mainly for the purpose of harvesting organs for transplantation into human hosts. Failing kidney? No problem. Bad heart valve? No problem. We've been using animal organs for years, specifically pigs, as their tissue are not generally rejected by our immune systems.

@WingedThing Well, proven, verified, factual Scientific knowledge, confirmed and corroborated by literally thousands of geneticists and millions upon millions of genetic tests every single day show that I am right.

Humans have 46 chromosomes. We are unique in this. This means that no other animal species on the planet is sexually compatible with us - we cannot produce offspring with any other species, not even our closest genetic cousins, the great apes.

Birds come from the saurial line of evolution. This is a fact. Evolution occurs across hundreds, thousands, millions of years, not within the lifespan of a single individual. If humans could evolve to grow wings, it would be a gradual process over multiple generations, in response to environmental stressors, and it would have to be governed by the Darwinism model of natural selection.

Ever wondered why polar bears are white? It's because that the original populations may have included black, brown, or even red furred variants - but because of their coloring they were less successful at hunting than their white furred brethren, and over the course of successive generations the darker variants died out from attrition due to starvation, where the white bears, able to blend in with the snowy landscapes, survived. Polar bears didn't just spontaneously spring into existence - they evolved slowly over multiple, multiple generations in response to the environment, but their original white coloring may have been a mutation that was fortunately best suited for that particular environment. In southern regions, forested and temperate, a white bear would stick out like sore thumb and be easily spotted by prey - ergo white bears do not exist in the south because they would starve. That is a simple model of how environment affects evolution.

@WingedThing This site - A. isn't just for kids. B. goals are publicly open. C. is subject to Freedom of Speech.

Dungeons & Dragons is a game. A tactical, strategy game that grew out of rules for historical miniature games and branched into fantasy. I have played it for nearly forty years - playing a game does not obligate me to believe that dragons are real.

A gypsy vardo is a historical footnote, a actual thing that once existed in great numbers. For a person who likes to live a nomadic lifestyle when I can, the vardo is far more unique and stylish than a generic camper.

I cosplay because I enjoy costume construction and because what I do brings happiness to others, particularly children. Sometimes our cosplay group goes into children's hospitals to brighten their day and to bring them gifts. I enjoy seeing their faces lighting up in joy as the characters from Star Wars or the Justice League walks into their rooms.

My "belief" isn't the point. In fact what I believe is irrelevant to what is Known, Proven Fact.
Humans do not grow wings, gills, vampire fangs, fur, cat ears, tails (with the exception of a genetic abnormality that looks like a thin, stringy, "tail" and is extremely rare), claws, talons, or anything else. We cannot breed or produce hybrid creatures with any other species. This isn't a "belief", it's cold, hard, factual Truth.

So let's say that someone comes on here and starts telling people things to do that many people may not realize are unsafe? You may realize this, but many others may not. In fact many people may not. On the old 43 Things there was a girl? who posted "spells" to become a mermaid, and one set of instructions said to drink many large bottles of water within a short timeframe. That "spell" stayed up quite a while before I saw it, and I promptly posted the information concerning Water Intoxication, a potentially lethal water/electrolyte imbalance caused by the rapid ingestion of water that can be lethal, and I reported the post, which was quickly taken down.

Another goal about becoming a vampire said to take iron pills in ever increasing doses to generate tolerance for the iron in blood. Iron past a certain dosage is LETHAL. Again, I posted the information showing this, reported the post, and it was quickly removed.

Many other such posts were made over the years, ranging from potentially lethal to possible predators who claimed to be able to "turn" people into various creatures and needed to "meet" with them - all of which I reported and two of which I reported to the FBI. All these posts were removed.

Without people like me who are willing to suffer the slings and arrows of hate, invective, profanity, insults, etc. fired by those who wish to spread their lies and fantasies unchallenged, then these fantasies quickly spiral out of control to the point where anyone can claim anything and not be challenged.

Reality check - if someone makes a claim on here that I Know is not true, then I'm going to call them on it. To do otherwise is to do them and others a disservice. Why is it that everyone on here has no problem with believing in lies but gets stamping mad when someone tells them the truth?

Because of cognitive dissonance, that's why. The truth is viewed as a personal attack (which is why they say I'm harassing them, when I am not) because it attacks the fantasy, shows it to be false, and they in turn have integrated the fantasy so deeply into their self-image that they cannot see a challenge to the concept as anything other than a personal attack. Psychiatrically speaking, that's pretty much the textbook definition of a delusional thinking pattern.

Is it a harmless fantasy? In most cases, yes. The great majority of teenagers and young adults on the old site when I first joined years ago who were so vehemently against the truth are now in their twenties, probably have jobs, homes, cars, kids - and they have long ago realized that these fantasies are not true.

However, there is a percentage of people who refuse to acknowledge truth no matter how old they get, and they never mature emotionally. They end up as the real kooks, fringe members of society who actively believe that they are werewolves, or vampires, or wizards, or faeries, etc. despite all logical thought and knowledge to the contrary.

The real danger is that they continue propagating these fantasies to younger generations, and some may be truly dangerous - there was a teenage girl in Florida who met a "vampire" online, and he borrowed a friend's car, drove to her location, and with her help murdered her parents. They fled, but were arrested several states away. I can't remember what happened to her, but the "vampire" - who was nothing of the sort - is spending life in prison as far as I know. And this is just one tale of how these fantasies can go horribly wrong.

@WingedThing How am I "insane"? How is saying that the Truth deserves to be presented to challenge a falsehood wrong?

Imagine that there was a goal called "Build a working 57 Chevy out of pancakes", and that the goal was filled with "yes men" who filled the goal with fantasy posts of how they were going to do this, and that some people actually started believing them.

Now imagine someone came along who saw that the "yes men" were all laughing at the people who they had suckered into believing in the fantasy, and this person posted the engineering and mechanical principles behind the chassis construction and internal combustion that showed that the goal was completely impossible.

Of course all the yes men became enraged that he had spoiled their fun, and that the believers were being shown the truth that proved all the yes men's posts were lies, so they continually attacked the lone poster in an effort to get him to go away so they could continue suckering others in so they could laugh at them.

Knowing this the lone poster refused to give up, because he believed that Truth has as much right and more to be presented than a lie does, that lies should always be challenged, and that it is a disservice and disrespect to humanity to allow such behavior continue unabated without attempting to use education to break the cycle.

Are these fantasies fun? Sure. It is nice to use imagination to invent a scenario where men can fly by flapping their wings or live underwater - that's how we get comic heroes like Hawkman and Aquaman - but we are not obligated to believe that they are real simply because we can use our imagination to conceive of them. As we grow older we mature and become able to use critical thinking skills paired with known data to understand why such things are not possible.

https://en.wikipedia.org/Rod_Ferrell Ferrell became convinced he was his Vampire the Masquerade character, a 500 year old vampire and seduced a teenage girl online - he and his friends drove to Florida and brutally murdered the girl's parents before fleeing with her across several states, eventually being captured. He was sentenced to death, but that has been reduced to life without parole. Such dangers are far more possible in these fantasies, where "magic" is a part of the fantasy and "anything" is "possible". If my presence here keeps the more dangerous aspects of these fantasies from rearing their head, as they have the potential to do, then I'm good with the hate that they feel towards me. The real problem is that words on the Internet remain - assuming the site isn't taken down - and dangerous "spells" could be causing harm or death 5, 10, 15 years down the road if someone doesn't say, "No, this is a fantasy. @mycupofstars Fun? If there wasn't so much stated declarations of people saying they actually believe in these things it could be considered a fun, harmless fantasy.

Several years ago I saw at least one poster on the old site that said she was a teenager and was inventing "spells" for other children to "cast" in order to become "mermaids".

Normally this would be no major concern, even assuming she was actually the age she posted, but the problem comes with the fact that the "spell" called for, amid a plethora of nonsense, the ingestion of a large amount of water in an extremely short time.

Depending on factors such as body mass, hydration levels, and nutrition, the ingestion of such amounts of water in a short timeframe can lead to a water/electrolyte imbalance called water intoxication, which can be deadly.

Another poster, claiming to be turning into a "vampire", posted that in order to become acclimated to the amount of iron in blood that people wanting to become "vampires" should start taking iron pills. There was one problem - the amount of iron they were suggesting was a lethal dose.

There have been other posters claiming to be able to "turn" wannabees into their heart's desire, and all they had to do was meet in real life............. all those people will turn them into is just another statistic, a missing person's report, and a unidentified body lying in a shallow grave somewhere.

Take for example the case of Rod Ferrell. https://en.wikipedia.org/Rod_Ferrell
Ferrell became convinced he was his Vampire the Masquerade character, a 500 year old vampire and seduced a teenage girl online - he and his friends drove to Florida and brutally murdered the girl's parents before fleeing with her across several states, eventually being captured.

It doesn't work, and here's why."
