I'd like to get several tattoos, actually, to honor my late grandpa and my baby, who I lost while I was pregnant with her.

I know what I want to get already. I'm not sure of the design but I want to get something that says "Faith and Liberty forever"

I actually already have four tattoos:: but I have several more planned. A large back piece, a half sleeve, and a thigh piece. They are all going to wait until I reach my goal weight (a third of the way there!).

@rainbowssparks I have a fox on my right shoulder blade, a dragonfly two inches under my left collarbone, a kissy mark with a skull on my right collarbone, and a xenomorph on my right forearm.

@kriskrossness Wow! I especially like the kissy mark with skull, great design. πŸ™‚ Are the xenomorph and fox going to be integrated into the sleeve and back piece?

@rainbowssparks The xenomorph isn't - he's on the opposite side. The sleeve is going to be on my left arm and it is going to have vines that climb over the shoulder and meet the dragonfly. I haven't decided on the fox yet - my back piece is in the redesign mode at the moment. I'm keeping the main theme of it, but I designed it eleven years ago (when I was 18) and have evolved a bit since then.

@kriskrossness That sounds awesome! So you've been wanting a back piece for a long time now, will it cover your whole back? I really love people that have the guts to rock a big tattoo.

@rainbowssparks It will cover about 2/3 of my back, mostly the upper/middle. It's round, so it may not even reach the fox tattoo, unless I did something like stars and the fox was a constellation... But the primary thing is that the tattoo symbolizes my growth, my fears, and my spiritual self. It has a dead tree on an island, with a black widow on the trunk and the earth in the background (how you normally see the moon shining through the tree leaves?). Those are the parts that I am definitely keeping. I've always wanted to get it, but I've always been self conscious of my back. I told myself that if I lost the weight, I'd get it as a reward at the very end. (Losing around 120lbs. I'm down 40. Getting there slowly, but it's happening.)

@kriskrossness It is also not something you get right away since it is going to be big. Your idea sounds like an alternative picture of theme of self growth. Am curious what it will look like when you finish redoing it. And you're doing a great job on the weight loss, keep it going!

@rainbowssparks I'll definitely post a picture when I am finished with the redesign! ^_^ And thanks! It's been rewarding so far. It's difficult and I've fallin off the wagon a few times, but I'm doing pretty good at the moment.

@rainbowssparks Oh, also when I get the sleeve done - The dragonfly is going to get a touch up. It was red and blue originally but the red dye didn't stick. I had a weird reaction to it and my body rejected the red dye. Which is strange because the red dye in the kissy mark worked just fine.

@kriskrossness Isn't red dye notorious for being rejected? I thought I read something like that sometime ago. Weird that the other red dye was no problem, but maybe it was a different brand or shade they used?

@rainbowssparks They were done at different tattoo parlors 8 years apart. Red dye is notorious for being the problem child. It could have been a ton of things that went wrong with it. The dragonfly was my first tattoo, so I was rather disappointed that it had so many troubles. But, I'm gonna get fixed! (although, not with red this time) Sometime soonish hopefully.

    Hello everybody!

I did the first step towards this goal yesterday, which means I created a space to save up money for the tattoo (and some other goals, too). I must admit, I have NO idea how much this will cost, but I have a - more or less - clear idea what I want to get tattooed & where 🙂. "More" because I know WHAT should be tattooed, "less" because I still didn't draw something worthy of getting tattooed. I just have trouble with drawing the image.

I might ask my sister for help; her drawing skills are way above my own, plus I would feel honoured to get something tattooed which she had drawn.

Have a lovely rest of the day!

@khaosinkinema A good artist should be able to help you with the drawing as well, and may have some suggestions on how it'll translate to skin-- sometimes a design needs tweaking to look good in certain places, especially arms or legs. Absolute minimum most reputable places charge is around $60, anything lower than that and I would be suspicious.
