33 Things to Eliminate From Your Closet

    Written by project333

    33eliminate

If you aren’t ready to dress with only 33 items. Why not eliminate 33 items from your closet? Consider it the reverse Project 333.

-Anything with shoulder pads, even if they are making a comeback.
-Your high school jeans that haven’t buttoned since high school.
-That formal outfit you bought for one occasion.
    -Your ex-anyone’s anything.
    -Christmas sweaters.
-Things that are ripped or have holes that aren’t supposed to be there.
-Pieces you can see through unintentionally.
-Those super cute shoes that you can’t walk in.
-Sentimental items that make you sad.
The warm coat you don’t wear. Someone needs it more than you.
-Sentimental items that don’t fit. Take a picture.
-Clothes you are saving for your children.
-Pieces that need to go to the tailor that never get to the tailor.
-A bridesmaid’s dress they said you could wear again, and you know you won’t.
-Hats you don’t wear even though everyone says you look good in hats.
    -Ill-fitting bras. Feature your features.
    -Purses. You only need one.
-Clothes that don’t belong to you. Give them back.
-Anything with a weird smell that won’t wash out.
-Clothing or shoes that leave a mark or blister.
-Scarves that don’t go with anything you currently own.
-Clothes that don’t allow your underwear to be under.
-Anything you have to squeeze in to.
-Clothes you bought on vacation that you won’t wear where you live.
-Pants that are shorter than they are supposed to be.
-Shirts that are longer than they are supposed to be.
-Sequins and sparkles if you prefer simple and subtle.
-Anything with a stain that won’t come out.
-Guilt items. If you spent too much for it, dump the guilt. You’ll keep paying for it in time and attention if you don’t let it go now.
-Multiples. Just because the blazer looked good in cream doesn’t mean you need it in every color. One is enough.
-The top or bottom of a suit. They aren’t sold separately for a reason.
    -Clothes you can pet.
-Yoga pants that don’t go to yoga.

Two new dresses today. Yea! One is a sunflower print and one is grey with pinks and a little black. Two dresses came in which fit my capsule and so now I need to find two items that do not suit my purposes and let them go.

I've been able to wear more and more outfits from the growing capsule. I guess I will consider this complete when I can go two solid weeks wearing nothing but pieces from my closet. (I keep yardwork clothes in the dresser.)

This is gonna be a slow process. As I reach my goal weight and suddenly have to buy new clothes, every new thing I buy is gonna follow my theme. Black, white, grey, blue, yellow. That's my color palette. Every thing that I pick up is gonna work with every other thing in the wardrobe. :)

@kriskrossness I was just discusiing this idea with my hisband yesterday, I am doing "Dress your truth" which helps you work out what type you are.. I am type two, so for the capsule idea to work for me it has to be muted colours no Black, but greys and charcoals would work. Thank you for this reminder I need to go study "capsule wardrobe"

@Queen Purrs Like A Kitten I'd never heard of "Dress your truth" before! xD Yay research. Thats an interesting concept. According to the quiz I took - I am a mix of type 1 and type 3. Got the same number from both.

@kriskrossness all that means is that types 1 and 3 are your types. Did one resonate more than the other? That will be your primary type, the other is your secondary and most people use that to accessorise.I just typed all this and lost it, so if it shows up twice you'll know why..
For me it was YES! YES! YES! Oh my gosh YES! For type two, it made so much sense, then when I went to clear my wardrobe of NON type two's it seems that 80% of wardrobe was already type twos. For my the hardest part of the purging was the colour black, all my life I was lead to believe "Black was a slimming colour and hid the un savory bits" seems that only a few types can successfully pull of black, I now focus on grey and charcoal instead. Although I do still have a few pairs of leggings and a pair of dressy pants in black but apparently thats ok, be ause its not work near your face.

My secondary is type one, she likes a bit of "Bling" so when she comes out I'll pop on the junk jewellery to please her.
Shopping has become so much easier now that I know my colour palette, fabrics, necklines, drape of fabric, patterns even, and shoes OH MY GOSH! I hated shopping for shoes, now I know exactly what I need to get ots so much easier and quicker, AND cost efficiant because Im not buying on a whim.

All of this will make my capsule wardrobe so much easier.

Yesterday, I purged all pieces from the current wardrobe that were not the right color, style, or fit. But I can not mark this one as done until I've added all the key pieces I still need. Including shoes.

I culled my wardrobe. I'm doing Project 333. My wardrobe now only contains 33 items. However, I am altering the rules a small bit. I bought a good pair of leather look jeans today. I'm going to take out an old black pair and put in the new pair.

You can type any date in plain English like in 3 weeks or next month.
You can also type in recurring due date like every day, every week and every month.
