This is a major problem of mine especially when it comes to study. I’ve been saying this for years and although i have slightly improved lately i do really need to beat procrastination once and for all.

I’m taking a heavier course load this year.
I know that I am smart enough to handle it,
I just need to sit down and do the work.

I’m actually hoping that this list of 43 things helps me with this goal. It’s not going to stop me from running to class. or racing the clock while driving to work. writing a paper the night before it’s due. but i go online enough to get that constant reminder that i need to get #42 done. and if i want to add something else to the list, i’ve definitely gotta do something else to make room.
Man I love lists.

Changed my goal.  — 2 months ago

After I just could not succeed with the other goal, I changed from “Stop procrastinating” to “Procrastinate less”. I’ve realized that it’s impossible for me to absolutely stop procrastinating, and just doing it less often is what I’m really aiming for. So this is perfectly fine with me :)

My schedule is switched around a little this week, and I unexpectedly have today off, which works out great because I’m still recovering from being sick over the weekend. Anyways, I would like to take this moment to address the problem I have sticking with to-do lists. I seem to have good intentions while making the daily ones in my little day planner, but most of the time they go ingored. Eventually, most of the stuff I put on there will end up getting done, but why do I have such an aversion to the list? I quite literally will glance right at it and say to myself, “Yep, that’s a list all right,” and go on about my business of attending to something else. It would make my life so much easier, and I wouldn’t be rushing around trying to get things done at the very last minute if I were to JUST STICK TO THE PLAN. I suppose that’s why this goal in on here in the first place.

So, today’s list is pretty daunting at first look, although a lot of the things on there are accomplished pretty quickly. I’d be happy if I got most of it done.

I’m possibly about to pay a higher price then I ever imagined paying for my procrastination. It’s not worth it guys. Don’t necessarily sweat the small stuff, but when it comes to the important things, don’t wait. You could find yourself in a REAL bind.

Inspiration & Motivation  — 3 months ago

I really don’t mean to put things off until the very last possible second. Usually, I try to get organized and start things as soon as I decide that they ought to (or need to) get done. I’m great at making plans, terrible at following through.

Part of the problem, I know, is that I simply think and work better under pressure. It’s hard for me to come up with ideas for a paper or create a visually appealing presentation more than 24 hours before it’s due. My mind wanders too much I think; only when I feel the pressure of a deadline can I force myself to focus and get the job done.

So how can I find motivation and inspiration before the last minute???
