I learned most of the basic moves and I recommend fo everyone to attend a public skating session sometime in their life!

Worth doing!

I started skating lessons about 3 years ago when I was 10. I was always disapointed that I had started later than everyone else my age. But, I quickly discovered I sailed through levels and learned tons of new moves. I even got a private coach who really helps me a lot. I now skate 3 days a week and are slowly but surely getting up there with the harder moves and spins. My advice: keep your spirits up and keep trying and you will succed!

Worth doing!

After almost a decade as a semi-serious figure skater… yeah… I think I can say I skate better than many people… and that wouldn’t be bragging. :)

There are few things as lovely as skating on a cool, smooth, silent surface. Just listening to sound of your freshly sharpened blades as you fly around corners and dance across the ice. I’ve always equated that to a sense of personal peace and freedom. It’s like my problems can’t touch me when I’m on the rink.

I won’t say I was a really good figure skater. ‘Cause I wasn’t. I was pretty average. I just loved being on the ice. I don’t skate anywhere near as much as I used to. In fact, I think I’ll add that to my list… skate more often. :) However, I’d recommend that everyone learn to do this. It’s an amazing feeling and a huge confidence boost to be able to scoot around quickly on an ice surface and be able to stop on a dime. You’re friends and family will be amazed and you’ll impress the hell out of that cute guy/girl you’ve had your eye on. ;)

As an added bonus, learning to skate well is like riding your bike. You will never forget. Even if you go years between skating sessions.

The last (and first) time I went ice skating I fell over three times. I want to be able to glide like a swan.
