Finish Strong

It’s funny, I hear those words at least once a week and I never really think of how important they are. I play pool on a league and have yet to really “FINISH STRONG”. When faced with matches that are tough or a very important event I have tended to fold. Everyone always says that it’s just a game and not to be upset it happens to everyone. I am not upset that I lost, it’s how I lost that kills me. I choked and just fell apart under the pressure (mostly coming from me and my fear of failing). I get so upset because that shows who I am as a person. I am so afraid to fail that I will quit or give up before the end of life and not really FINISH STRONG. It’s not if you win or lose it’s that you did the best you could and put your all into until the end no matter what you thought might happen. So my new goal in everyday life is to FINISH STRONG, no matter what the “table” looks like.

“And all I want to say is I’m not here to stay. Life ends and I don’t mind, just wake me up on time. And all I want to say is I’m not here to stay, and I don’t care as long as I can finish strong.” (The O.C. Supertones, “Wake Me Up on Time”)

if the Christian life is a race, I want to run the whole thing. and that’s gonna take pacing myself. I don’t wanna burn out, I wanna finish strong.

My biggest goal is just to Finish Strong. If you’re a husband and haven’t read the book Finishing Strong—you should. I want to give my kids the stable home that they deserve. The statistics regarding people who have managed to do it aren’t too good, but I want to make sure I’m one of them.
