Not freak out about approaching 40

But this last birthday it started to hit me. Soon I’ll turn 40 and surprisingly, it’s freakin me out a little.

When I turned 30 I had no probs with it. That was an awesome year… I graduated from college, broke up with my shitty boyfriend, got my own apartment and a solid job, started my little dream of a crafts business.

Then it just seemed to get better. I started feeling like all that crazy introspection of my 20s was finally paying off. I felt wise and self-accepting. 30s have been great.

And then I turned 38 and suddenly I realized I will be 40 and then in my 40s. I don’t know why it’s bugging me now… and I’ll get over it probably by the time my birthday rolls around. But, the other day… this song came on the radio called ‘I’m 40’ and the chorus goes ‘I’m haaaaalf waaaay hoooome’. I almost cried. lol.

I’ll work on this.
