I know this goal conflicts with this goal but study books don’t count :-P I am going to enroll into a MSc program, but since that doesn’t start until Jan ‘09 doing the Personal MBA should be an excellent prep!

I just requested three more PMBA books from the library:
“Lean Thinking”, “Crucial Conversations”, and Dale Carnegie’s classic “How to win friends and influence people”. The title lends me to believe the book is about manipulation techniques, which I don’t really care to learn. I guess I can always put it down if the advice goes too far.
I just finished Seth Godin’s “Bootstrapper’s Bible”. An easy quick read. There’s some good stuff in there, but I felt the book was pretty disorganized. I guess I was hoping for more of a “do this, and this, and this” type of checklist.
When I want to retain what I’ve read I can be a really slow reader. So far I’ve completed “7 Habits of Highly Effective People” and “Getting Things Done” with great profit.
I started this almost a year ago. I compiled a list of all the books and found that three-fourths were available at my local library (God bless the Carnegie Library System). I made a reading plan and finished the first few on the list, then got side-tracked by one thing or another and sort of put this on the back-burner.
I have so many things I want to read though, and not nearly enough time. Maybe I should start taking my books to work and reading them over lunch. The weather is starting to improve, so that might be a good way to spend some time in the sun.
I’ve been reading some of the books, but I think this goal is just cluttering up my goal list. I track this progress over here anyway.
I’ve added a list of all the Personal MBA books over at Lists of Bests: http://www.listsofbests.com/list/3128
