backpack across europe

a few nights ago i was at a friends’ house, and i saw their pictures from their vacation in germany. it was absolutely gorgeous, and now i have incentive to actually backpack there myself. i want to see some of the castles and such, the pretty buildings, and the narrow streets. it’s so GREEN there!

One day I would love to go back to Europe and only see it by backpacking and staying at hostels. I think this would be such a fun adventure. Plus you save money doing it this way and get to see so many more countries. I’ve always been fascinated by European culture and the many fabulous places to visit. I want to start in London and work my way to Russia. When I went to Europe last summer I met this amazing couple. They were backpacking through Europe but started in Russia. I thought how cool was that because most people I talked to always start more on the western side. So if any one else is interested in this goal then we should definitely plan something. I actully thought about doing this as a gradution gift to myslef once I completed graduate school.

My version of backpacking across Europe means a lot of countries, but not every single one from one end to the other. Because let’s be real. I have to work, yo.
I’m thinking Switzerland, France, Luxembourg, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic and Austria. That’s pretty much a big circle, and I can always come back over time for the rest :)

It seems like every time I take a step toward this goal, something happens and I have to take two steps back. Its hard for me to believe that money doesn’t bring happiness, because even a little bit would make life so much easier for me. Not a lot. Just some. I’m so ready to see the world- to explore new options of life. But I’m tired of all these silly things hindering me.

I have to get there. I will. If it’s the last thing I do. If it kills me. I will get there.

so i’m in greece, and only have a week until i’m officially ‘backpacking’. i’ve been here about three weeks now and i’m sooooo homesick, i really want to backpack but part of me just wants to go home!!!!!! i don’t know what to do :(

i’ve made plans to just go around for a month, hit up italy, germany, and france. i’m also doing this all by myself so.. i’m a little scared :( any advice??

I want to take my backpack and get a Eurorail pass and see all of Europe. And since I’ve got a few years under my belt, I want to stay in 4 star hotels every night.

One of those things that I am afraid I’ll never do before I die.

I have so many things to focus on while I’m there. And I’m so excited. I have questions about my life that I need to figure out. This isn’t just a trip to see the most beautiful parts of the world. It’s about me. Who am I and what in the world do I honestly and truly want to do with my life. I have a few books I’m taking- workbooks- to help me focus on finding answers. I also have a list of questions I want answered. I can’t seem to find time out here in LA to really pay attention and work on these very, very important questions. So I’m finding that this isn’t just a trip about traveling- I truly am searching for something. It’s a journey for something I can’t even explain yet. I’m not even quite sure what I’m looking for. But I hope I find it.

I’ve gone twice backpacking around Europe. I’ve been to Portugal, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, France, England, and Germany. Western Europe is beautiful and can be done on budget. I stayed in hostels, bought groceries at supermarkets, and didn’t buy many tourist things. I never stinged on sights though, since these are important to really taking advantage of your trip.
