Worth doing!

well
it was opening night for the play for which i was stage manager
so we went though our traditions which involved going out somewhere as a group to go and eat and afterwards we went to princess island park
sooo
a bunch of the guys started playing american football [which i really don’t find appealing]
so i went and found myself a very large poplar tree of which the bark was large enough to use for bouldering
so i went up about eight feet and took a quick nap =]

it was pretty dicey
but if you find a good spot you don’t worry so much =]

just that casual cat nap that is supposed to be so realxing

nice big tree  — 4 months ago

I think it would be cool to climb a Nice Big Tree, setup a hammock, secure yourself and sleep the night. Of course, going to the bathroom may become problematic.

sleep in a tree  — 1 year ago

i want to sleep in a tree, and be able to do so in any situation to help in concealment and evasion. i also want to learn how to sleep in trees using only materials i can easily keep on my person to keep me from falling out. like ninjas did. (sounds corny, but it’s a brilliant idea that i would enjoy doing also)

Oh yes, it sounds like a blast.
Wouldn’t a way to prevent the vertigo or falling feeling be to strap a hammock up to a hefty limb and lay in that?
I have not done it, nor seen a “nest” type hammock, but I am sure there is a way. Anyone know of a device that could do this? I am not sure if concocting something would be strong enough.

It was this beautiful tree my friends and I climbed during our midday 'siesta'  — 2 years ago

Not worth it!

It took a while to get comfortable but even then it wasn’t. And I kept dreaming of falling so I woke up feeling vertigo. I’m not even afraid of heights or anything!! But this isn’t for everyone.

Ninjas aren't really the same as sleep, are they?  — 2 years ago

I have not actually slept in a tree, but it does sound like great fun. I do like to sit in trees and watch people though. At my college, my friends and I have actually dressed as ninja and hidden in the trees around campus at night and would jump out to scared the daylights out of passers by. I should try sleeping, or at least reading a book in one.

more awesome than just climbing them...  — 2 years ago

find one you can rest in comfortable, preferably a large, solid, yet swaying breezy tree that keeps you fairly hidden.

Now get solidly anchored and snooze. There’s not much like it.

I actually did this, once in a garden in Memphis  — 3 years ago

Worth doing!

I lived without a home, on and off, for twelve years until finally was blessed to find one, to find love, to get to the point of healing that I could realize that I could with God’s grace and strength and love, gather and save my resources.

One night, I was without a place, and having missed opportunities to get into shelter, I climbed into a tree, found a place where the branches could support me securely, and took a cat nap.

People walked past below, not knowing I rested there. I had found the first feeling of security in a long while.
