Photography is what you make of it  — 4 days ago

There are a lot of unemployed actors in los angeles and a similiar number of unemployed photographers in america.

i read with some interest the notes from individuals who are planning a career in photography: i urge caution. there is money to be made in the business, and it is not in the artistic end of the spectrum. boring production work such as wedding photography pays very well in major metropolitan areas – i work with a guy who routinely gets $5k – $7k per wedding. this is primary, backup and assistant with production to web page for download.

i am not trying to be negative – just trying to bring perspective that being a pro photographer is a tough business with a lot of talent out of work.

for the time being i keep my day job as an engineer and shoot my family, frieds, food and wine.

WORTH IT

A picture may say a thousand words but it can provoke a smile and a whole lot of laughter too which means so much more

Worth doing!

Well I started taking more photos untill my camera broke. And I’m so broke from my vacation that I can’t afford another one :(. I went on vacation for 5 wks in Europe. I took over 600 photos! It’s fun, inspiring, and creative!

I study full time and work part time, so I find it really difficult to make time to take photos.

I’m pretty decent with a camera, but, its hard to find inspiration. Most of my work was done when I was traveling, as I had nothing else to do.

But I regret not taking photos of myself from the past; have nice keepsakes to look back over. What you wear, how you looked etc.

So, where do you all get inspiration from?

Every instant that passes by, every second, cannot come back. All we have with time is a vague blurry vision of that precious moment. But photos allow us to capture that moment alive and preserve it. This beautiful time of our existence. Now.

Now someone who doesn’t have the habit of doing this repeatedly is wasting precious moments that will never return. Remember two days ago that great moment you would have photographed? You’ll never have the same chance.

So I’m taking this goal seriously.
