GaiaMaria is in love with the sun

I spent almost every summer of my life in the south of France and I honestly feel more at home there than anywhere else. My parents have a house in the mountains and I plan to someday (soon) pack my bags and move down there for a bit. Just do odd jobs and sit on the roof in the evenings looking out on the mountains, writing my songs.

I would also like to live in the US – that might come true next year. I plan to apply to a particular acting school. One of my best friends starts his studies there this fall and I’d love to join him if possible.

    We’ll see.

Moved from Santa Cruz, CA to Buenos Aires, Argentina seven months ago. The most challenging and yet rewarding thing I have done yet. Love it.

At least for a year. Japan, France, Italy, Africa… Who knows, the possibilities are endless.

Not 'giving up', just putting this on hold...  — 3 weeks ago

as I have no wish/intention/way to do this for at least another 4/5 years (before I hopefully do an elective in uni), I’m gonna take this off my list to make room for some more achievable goals :)

I've done this before but want to do it again...  — 3 weeks ago

I lived as a child in Brunei (10 points to anyone who knows straight off where that is!) and moved back to Australia. I’m finding myself getting very small minded here and caught up in petty things when there’s more to the world out there. It was worse when I immediately moved back not only because it had been recent but because I was thrown into what is reputed to be one of the bitchiest schools in Sydney and to ensure my own social survival I had to become like them, which I resented. Now I find uni is more to my liking, and after much reflection and chatting to people who’ve been on exchange and other fellow expats’ children I’ve realised partially the reason I like uni so much better is because it’s so much bigger and better and more open—just like living in another country and not feeling small minded. But there’s nothing compared to living in another country, and not just for some measly 6 months or a year (though tht is a long time for someone who lives their whole life in one place!) and I want to do that. Unfortunately I cannot even go on exchange due to the restrictions on my degree and it’s even worse because they’ve introduced a revamp of the cohort two years under me which would allow THEM to and I’m actually their age. Le sigh, my life story on here but this ambition is my life story I suppose.

I have been on three missions trips to Jamaica, and last summer went to Germany and France. I love experiencing other cultures and seeing our beautiful world. There is so much else in the world to see and experience. I want to live in another country for at least one year. I think it would put me outside my comfort zone and stretch me as a person.
