This is tied to the no motivation thing. I seem to find myself as the typical jack of all trades, master of none. As there is so much I want to do, I don’t seem to be able to focus on anything, which leads to the ridiculous predicament of learning none of them. I suppose steadily ploughing through each thing one by one could be the way forward.

How I did it: My friend Claire was teaching out there and I decided that visiting her before she came back meant I'd definitely go. Then, as I was talking about it, my friend Dave decided he was coming too as we'd all been at uni together. So we just booked flights and then sorted out everything else around that! Read how I did it…
I find that motivation comes in waves. I can spend two weeks completely devoted to a project and then have no desire to work on it or do anything else for the next six months. I do find that an inspirational story or a film can really help boost motivation so I suppose I ought to try to motivate myself when I know I need to. But without the motivation to motivate myself…...help! I’m being eaten by a vicious circle!
I gave up and it was surprisingly easy. The biggest thing is keeping it up. Every time you go out and you think ‘I’ll just have on, just this once’, try to hold out and save it for later or next time. I did that the first few times I stopped having one on the way to work. It’s a 15 minute walk and I’d spend the entire time thinking ‘in a minute’ or ‘not now’ or ‘just hold out’ and I’d manage not to have one. You do need patience but once you’re free of it you’ll be so much happier.
