Basically, as with most any tumbling, you can’t be afraid. You are going to to fall, you might get hurt, and it doesn’t come easy, but you CANNOT be afraid of this. Fear is what makes these things impossible for many (not that everyone is going to get to the same levels of course, plus overall fitness and weight is obviously important). But definitely don’t attempt to learn this (even if you could previously do it at one point) without either being at a gym where they have equipment that gradually helps you achieve back/front tumbling or on a soft surface with a spotter who knows what they are doing. The handspring is where people usually start get scared in their training, or anything where you take both hands off the ground, even for those few seconds. You just have to go for it if fear is what is getting in your way. I was a gymnast from when I was young until when I was a teen so I had extensive training from a young age. My sister didn’t, so when she became a competitive cheerleader it was a huge hurdle for it and most of her problems stemmed from fear and the mental block it causes.

Since last Monday I have been doing quite well with this. In almost a week I have only had one small cola when I was out eating pizza with a friend. Otherwise I have been drinking coffee as well as more water (another goal) and some organic juices. Much healthier. Hopefully this week goes just as well.
My grandmother has been sending me notes in the mail for years and often actually writes “don’t drink soda” or something to that effect. Since she is almost 86 years old I should take her sage advice. But really, I need to stop drinking this high-fructose corn syrup crack but it is so damn good. However I want my diet to be healthier overall and soda so is not. I need to start to become determined to cut it out of my diet. I can’t say I might not have an occasional soda at this point, who am I kidding. But I know I the empty calories, processed sugar, and chemicals aren’t really helping me. As for the caffeine, coffee is even better (no way I’d ever give that up!).
