I have been thinking about blogging about my experiences in transitioning to RoR from CF. But not sure if people would find it worth while. The biggest gain would probably be from people saying “You are an idiot, the better way to do this is …” Maybe its usefull, but moving from a language i know (but was frustrated with) to an unknown is embarassing enough (almost as bad as my spelling…..this app needs a dictionary)
doing my company’s new ecommerce store in it. But dealing with my complete ignorance on the language and framework. Coming from my 7 years of somewhat knowledgeable experience of ColdFusion it is hard for me to give up my ways of the past and give into Ruby on Rails. It seems to get rid of many problems and headaches of the past, but until I am competant it will prove to cause more.
