Make time for being alone - Schedule it!  — 3 years ago

My friend Diane reminds me, that we need to be connected with ourselves, and with God (the spirit world, higher power, universe, nature, as you have experienced Her/Him/It).
Artists (musicians, dancers, painters, etc.) experience being in what Diane calls “the flow” more frequently than most, I’d guess. It’s that feeling that what you are doing or creating is just happening, and you happen to be there at the time it is shaping itself. It’s a sense of being completely in the present, completely involved, completely in love with the process.

Meditation and solitude are ways of reaching that “flow” without anything actually happening, being created, or done. In fact, it is getting in touch with BEING pure and simple.
Before doing something worthwhile, we must BE someone worthwhile. And one step is to meditate, pray, or read something inspirational – alone.

This goal could be titled several ways. . ."Grow Spiritually" may be better.  — 3 years ago

A belief in a Creator, Powerful Outside Force, and even Alien guidance, is so prevalent cross-culturally that it’s hard to ignore. I have an active spiritual life, but I could definitely re-examine it, and find ways to make it more meaningful and consistent. I believe there are many paths to the same destination. However, I do find some practices in some religons distasteful. An example of this would be the intolerance of Christianity towards other religions. For me, any religion that thinks it has all the answers doesn’t. I have trouble with Islam as well, due to the lower status of women (among other things).
