visited the great herbert kaye last night with my love. what a wonderful man. ninety-four years old and still singing his heart out to the ladies. says “mark is lucky he got you when he did.. otherwise you would would be mine”. mark got a “good one” and i need to “take good care of him”. i think we can handle that. hugged herbie and he gave me a kiss on the cheek. says “take those things off”. mark asks if he does not like my new glasses. “oh, don’t matter. just no good for kisssin’”. i took them off, leaned over and gave him another kiss on the cheek. “that’s better”.

my new glasses were to arrive one week from my eye appointment. they came a day early, which i knew would happen, and thankfully so. lovely sister picked them up for me. lovely counter-lady chose out perfect eyeglass case. perfect red with perfect creme flowers. not like the old lady quiltlike fabric ones. sister said “i would have told her to put it back, if she chose one of those”. silly sister thought she lost the glasses when she could not find them in her car. they were under neath the seat. they are perfect for my nose that is all too small and crooked, too.
visited american eyewear. short trip in a gold van, my grandmother and i. sticky after noon. tried on two frames. then fifty. went back to the original two. one has no price tag—i ask the woman, “they were discontinued” .. “only $39”. perfect. afterward, we eat lunch at ruby tuesdays. my grandmother’s name is ruby. my grandmother ruby was born on a tuesday. i brought my left over’s home to an apartment with flickering lights, and enjoyed the delightful fish with a love by my side.
