dealing... 1 month ago

with this shoulder pain in the F@rG!n @rse ! business. You NEED to schedule that appointment – I won’t name any names, but you know who you are. not to be all negative but I am feeling pretty shitty about the ww thing right now – not just because I haven’t gotten anywhere with it but because I disappeared on my team members again. I suxkses. also after this massage the other day the MT explained to me very clearly WHY I needed to drink approx. 220 ounces of water in the next 24 hours and what did I do? I drank about 50 ounces. Now I can’t get the image or feeling of all my lymph nodes absolutely choked on toxic body sludge right now and my head is KEELING MEEE! OK< enough negativity – I just really needed to express all of this.

The quest continues 9 months ago

Restarted ww with the new year. Just recently rejoined my challenge group. Lurked for awhile but finally made my presence known and asked if I could come back in and of course they said yes. I am so glad I did too. I really love this group of women. They are the smartest, funniest – just the best. So it’s taken me 6 weeks with everything that’s been going on to really ramp back up – to update the binder, to relearn the basic habits of drinking water (actually, still not doing great on that), eating breakfast, lean cuisines for lunch, etc. and am starting to really COUNT POINTS. what a concept. But I am seeing some initial results. I think if I lost 20 lbs. I might just believe I’m losing weight. Under 10 still feels like it could come or go overnight. But 20 – something is happening. Anyway, I’m recommitted. Last time I lasted 12 weeks. It’s not like I quit – I just faded away. Am really trying to make this part of my daily routine…

May 3rd update 1 year ago

Well, I made it to the 6-week marker without petering out or quitting. I am still kind of sloppy with the record keeping, but ‘watching it’ is pretty much at the forefront of my consciousness still. It ebbs and flows, but I’ve made a lot of mental progress, and some physical progress.

Also I just made an appt. to see a dr. next week. HIGH ANXIETY LEVELS!!! but doesn’t seem to be a typical doc so hopefully things will gel.

Doing well with water, not as-well with walking, but still making progress. thinking of buying a pedometer. definitely better with the diet pepsi since I’m drinking so much more water and I also started buying those little plastic bottles and sometimes I don’t even go through one of those in a day.

So, overall – things are going well.

April 4 update 1 year ago

Have been doing WW for 17 days now I think. First week was great. Second week meandered a bit. Not doing great on points this week, but pulling focus back in line. I’ve broken down my goals like this:
1 day, 2 weeks, 6 weeks, loss goal, loss goal, percent loss goal, loss goal.

I have the day-to-day stuff covered by the plan manager/points system, the weekly tracker and the excel spread sheets that generate the nifty charts. I have also joined a challenge which involves x% loss by x date, that type of thing. But I still need something more visual. Need to look up the stuff I did before – that was so helpful.

So right now I’m in week 3, so by the end of this week I’ll be half way through that 6 week goal. And then I’ll look to the next goal! (YOU CAN DO IT).

Another good day... 1 year ago

Forgot about breakfast again – will have to work on that… but that did give me a head start on the day points-wise. So I ended up ok even after guzzling several glasses of wine. Also went for a nice ride with Jiberto – great weather today – so that was great.

Also doing well with water…

WW day 3 1 year ago

Good day today – better than yesterday!!

Worked out this am – didn’t eat breakfast (didn’t mean to not eat, it just didn’t happen) but it helped with my points. I’m going to end up about right tonight (if I stop now). Talked to a couple more people about it, so that’s cool. I figure if I can stick with it 6 weeks, things are gonna start happening. But let’s see- that would be 42 days (39 left) is that too big a number to shoot for? No, I can conceive of that I think… I wish I didn’t have to play these mind games with myself. But that is how self is. Just accept it.

Off to update other items. me still likey 43 things.

oh, and one more thing... 1 year ago

This is one of those goals where once you start focusing on it, it takes care of a bunch of other problems as well.

e.g. water consumption, cutting down on diet pepsi and alcohol, exercising, grocery shopping more responsibily and cooking more (which satisfy financial responsibility goals as well…), being motivated to take care of myself physically, heart disease risk factors, diabetes risk factors, and on and on… Plus, it’s another support network which is great.

WW day 2 1 year ago

Day two and I’ve already succeeded, failed, learned a lot… I won’t break it down too much – just suffice it to say, it’s very educational seeing those points add up, pausing with an item half-way into your open mouth when the realization clicks in and out it comes… (not worth the points!!) This is going to help – A LOT!!

SO: anxiety is high – or will be – about sticking to it. I have very little experience with success. Perhaps only because I have very little experience with trying. I DID successfully keep up with going to the gym with Sandi beyond my feared ‘giveup’ point. Maybe if I can get her to join me in this, it will be the key here too… We both need it and she sounded interested. If not though, I need to find another key that will work and turn it.

Moving forward 1 year ago

Joined weight watchers this morning… Got to thinking about it again and all the features I liked about ediets & tracking tools that I created and everything. I’ve learned in order to take something like this on I have to really geek out on it for awhile… ok, maintenance is another subject altogether – but to even get started, I have to really get into it… Now I’m definitely feeling like I have 10-too-many balls in the proverbial air, but I gotta keep moving forward. There’s only one or two goals on my list more important than this so it’s good that I took the plunge. (feeling major anxiety however!!) but it’s good that I did it. And the tools are really cool! They also have b-boards where you can join challenges, they have points tracking systems for food and activity – searchable database of … well, you get the idea.

Yay for me.

Subgoal - DIETARY 1 year ago

re: dietary goals – here’s the key -

a) start following more of a plan – you know it works when you do it… use your health journal sheets to track everything.

The right TOOL for the job: Portion Savvy book was a great help – it has a really upbeat attitude – very empowering, and packed with useful info. Also, it breaks it down into week one – focus on breakfast, week two – lunch, week three – dinner, etc. so in one month you get a little jump start and help with building some habits.

Now if only I could find the book again!

But even if I just do the “sunday morning thing” where I sit down with the calendar and plot out the most basic of menu plans – nothing fancy – just the basics – it’s better than nothing. And doing that has two big benefits – a) spend less on going out to eat because i’m prepared – both with ingredients and mentally – to cook meals, and b) eat less junk because there’s less need to ‘resort’ to junk if my blood sugar is not messed up during the day.
