The TV went to the dump 3 weeks ago and we have no plans to replace it. 7 months ago

The TV stand, empty, sits in the living room like a small cave awaiting a very small bear. The cat isn’t fond of it.

We have no plans to keep it. It will just fit in the station wagon, just.

Bon Ton is having a “Goodwill” sale until 4/7. You bring a piece of furniture or something to donate to Goodwill (there are some restrictions) and get a discount coupon for the store.

There’s a Bon Ton in Concord, about 1 hour from here. I have no idea what I’d buy at the store, as I’ve never been in a Bon Ton. I’ll go look, why not?

Get rid of something, get a tax write off and maybe a discount all at once? Gee…ask me again?

If we can get past the ice in the driveway to get the TV stand into the car, we may do this…stay tuned!

The TV stand

as well as a bed skirt that doesn’t fit our new bed (king size, L.L. Bean) are on the walkway to go to the dump today.

The deal with Bon Ton was that you brought something to the store and they gave you a discount coupon for the net. I looked on the net and didn’t see anything I wanted, so we decided to just give it away, to a thrift shop or take it to the dump.

One of the new tables that I bought for my office is up in that corner right now, with boxes of books under and on it, but there’s a hole in the middle of the room where the boxes used to be and more space anyway!

Yeah!

Just got to take more to the antique store, the dump, the thrift shops, ship the lot to Walter Reed, and send some more to the library in Canada, stuff to the BIL, Pioneer Spirit’s file cabinet thingy (again, for part of it), etc. and the hole will get bigger!

Earlier this week, I got DH to hang the stainless shelves we got so cheaply and put chinaware on them. They look good, and that’s less stuff hanging around elsewhere.

Progress!

Good work, Judith

you’re really getting rid of a lot of stuff.

P.S. I’m curious about why the TV stand and bed skirt are going to the dump instead of a thrift shop?

JudithKD "..it's the try that counts. Win, lose, or draw

Our dump has a "swap shop"

The TV stand was likely removed today, acc. to our dump guy who said, “That’s a nice one, it won’t last long.” The bed skirt went into the Salvation Army donation box where clothes, etc. to be recycled go at our dump.

I didn’t just throw them away, I recycled them via the dump!

We didn’t have room for our garbage in the car with the TV stand, so we take our garbage tomorrow. I can tell you after that if he was right, and someone took it today!

P.S. Someone took our old stereo cabinet, but not the glass doors? Weird. The TV unfortunately is still there… along with a bunch of others.

Thanks for explaining, Judith

that makes sense. :-)

You're welcome!

Unfortunately, it was still there. I added a heater and a mat board cutter to the swap shop today.

The heater worked but its thermostat wouldn’t start up again once it shut off. It was $12 at Home Depot, and we found out why!

The mat board cutter is a weird do-dad that DH bought, and we need something better. We have access to a better (pro grade) one at the gallery DH is involved with. So, until we buy our own, we figure we’ll use the gallery’s.
